Naruto Generations: New Status Meter, Updated Demo at TGS

Namco Bandai Games has updated the official Japanese website for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations and they reveal some new, interesting tidbits. As some of you may already know, this Thursday marks the beginning of the world famous Tokyo Game Show, an event where companies such as those developing/publishing video games show off their works. Well, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations will be shown off at the event in the form of a playable demo! It’s a demo that features young Naruto, time skip Naruto, Sasuke, and Raikage.

Eh, already seen it you say? Well, the president of CyberConnect2 (Hiroshi Matsuyama) in a recent blog post says that the experience will be a different one! He mentions the demo at the Tokyo Game Show will feature an update battle system that will make the game feel fresh. It isn’t the final version, so us fans can expect even more improvements, but he is looking forward to fans enjoying it. We’re not exactly sure what the improvements are, but he mentions mentions just by name substitution jutsus and cancels. Also, as you can see in the image below a mysterious new status meter has been added next to the support characters. Hopefully we’ll have more information during the Tokyo Game Show when the info and videos leak!

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is a 3D fighter in works by CyberConnect2 for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.     According to that post on their site, namco bandai stated that they are working hard on a new Kawarimi (Substitutions) and cancel system. (By cancel system, I hope they mean we can cancel combos in mid combo in order to avoid becoming vulnerable for an attack.) Also, it says that what will be shown at TGS will be a “glimpse” of what the new system will be like. I bet the others who were saying “THIS IS JUST STORM 2.5″ are feeling pretty stupid right now.

    naw, we had good reason to suspect it would be storm 2.5, we’re just glad that cyberconnect is now revealing that this is not true.

    i just thought of something…. u know how naruto has sasuke as a surpport nd he uses the fire jutsu in the demo? Does dat mean there is jutsu custimization because in storm 1 he had chidori, pheonix flower nd fire ball

    Gameplay improvements. That sounds very good. Storm 2 seriously lacked of deep gameplay compared to Storm 1 (which didnt have a that deep gameplay either). But still I guess they wont return wall walking and struggles. I hope they add some kind of trigger events like the Ultimate Ninja series for PS2.

    I wonder why Storm 2 didnt have destructible floors (well they weren’t really destructible, but had cracks when someone dropped on it in Storm 1).

    I think its the new substitution meter. It could charge up slower than the chakra bar but also charges with the chakra bar. (Like gekitou ninja taisen special) except in that game it goes by taking and dealing damage. And every section is one substitution.

    I have to say I really didn’t think they would change the battle system (then again I never thought they would never admit to the online problems) and if they do what you say that will be amazing!!! or at least make the substitutions work like storm 1 again. However you have to remember it has been confirmed that this is not actually storm 3, and that storm 3 will be released later, hence the reason this game didn’t have a number, so for those who thought it may be storm 2.5, well had good reason to say that, although I wouldn’t have put it as a bad thing myself haha

    would definitely be interested if that were the case, if the build up was done right, substitutions would be used in major, well thought out situations like the anime rather then all the time, and alot more will be done to counter combos and dodge them, although if they don’t remove the stupid bouncing off effect that occurs when one is blocking and the other is dashing, people will just stand there and block, and bouncing off doesn’t make your guard go low, in storm 1 i think if you dashed to someone blocking you stopped right in front of them I can’t remember

    They could add something different in this Naruto game,something like DBZ:Ultimate Tenkaichi (the battles more like the ”anime”)and BTW Character Creator won’t be a bad idea!:D

    if u look EVEN closely, u can see that the new bar has 4 sections O_o and also, if u look EVEN CLOSELY u’ll see that the Raikage’s “new bar” kinda looks “connected” to Darui’s icon by a red thingy, it could be the reason Raikage can awaken but that would make no sence soo ideas?

    @google-32057d5540faf2bbbc32f4910ec59131:disqus i know, that’s the confusing part. maybe there’s an ability where when the red bar is full the player has the option of activating several effects which could include sub, countering and having an awakening? so the raikage did this while the sasuke player didn’t. or maybe it has nothing to do with the red bar since it’s full. idk we’ll just have to wait and see instead of guessing all the time.

    haha this is awesome, btw does anybody see the pockie ninja ad,lol this proves they don’t know fudge about naruto, on pains eyes he only has 3 circles but he’s supposed to have 5 lol, and  the circles pass pains iris’, but in the ad they dont, oh well haha thats what happens when u mix naruto with bleach……

    Ah. Similar to the breaker section on the meter in the new Mortal Kombat, causing an opponent to break out of a combo when that bar is filled up to that point. Brilliant. :D

    No one is in awaking because if that was true they would have lighting around them and it would be kind of darkish thats when you know your in awakening mode so there for i do not think the meter is an awakening thing but hey i could be wrong

    they aren’t IN awakening but the scan shows its possible to go into awakening AT THAT MOMENT, if you look at the Raikage’s health bar, there is an orb at the end signalling that the player can go into awakening if he/she wishes too.

    although if the bar is for substitution then that would be cool, so would be more like other fighters and the anime itself (they didn’t sub every 2 seconds lol) if they took the stupid bouncing of effect when you dash towards someones whose guarding the battle system would be far better

    maybe characters who don’t change their form (i.e dont become much larger like killer bee in 8 tails or itachi in sasunno, but rather like tailed naruto, gai, lee kakashi etc)will be able to go into awakening (maybe they will limit it to once a battle) when the health is green, and rather then a high increase of power, they will just get a new look and moveset and ultimates and grabs work on these awakenings. awakenings that change form have to occur when health is much lower and their awakenings syetm works as it did in storm 2
