Naruto Generations: 75 Playable Characters, 15 Support, Online Features

Namco Bandai Games America has recently released the features list for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations! Looking at the list, developer CyberConnect2 has really listened to the fans! They have actually listened to some our our suggestions here on Saiyan Island! Some of the things we wished for include online tournaments, the ability to watch other fights, and record fights. All features, as you can see below, will be in the game! We also wished for an online lobby room with text chat. They did us one better and have implemented a lobby room with voice chat! With exactly two months to go in the Japanese release, it’s possible we could see even more exciting new features. As for now, the features list from publisher Namco Bandai Games America:

Most Characters of any NARUTO title, Spanning Generations of Characters in the Series

75 playable characters and 15 support characters (total of 33 more characters than Storm 2)
Includes Characters from Storm 1, Storm 2, as well as New Characters

Over 60 minutes of All-New Animated Content from Studio Pierrot

Includes anime content detailing the NARUTO story from certain characters’ points of view, many of which were never shown in the Anime or Manga!

Expansive New Online Modes

Online Battle Modes include Tournaments and Endless Battles

In the same form that the first game, one member of the Shikamaru Platoon with other like support, fight agains Kimimaro with two of the Sound Four like support, CC2 don´t hear the fans.

hahaha! why am I not surprised that the sound 4 are only support still probably going to get the game but cc2 just lost some of my respect like seriously first ninja storm1 now generations??? why is it even called generations if there not going to let us be some of the most important people from the pre time skip naruto? awell i guess……….. -_- Oh and for the people who kept telling me i was wrong about them being support what do you have to say now? Ok, I was holding out my complaining until I knew for sure the sound 4 were in or not. This is ridiculous!!! How can a stupid character like Karin be in the game, SHE HASN’T EVEN FOUGHT ONCE, and ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL characters like the sound 4 not make the cut???!!? That is just horrible. CC2 has done a lot of great things with this game, Obito, young kakashi, and kages to name a few, but this is unacceptable. Go ahead. Push the date back to Summer for all I care. It is inexcusable for the Sound 4 not to be in the game. I’m almost 100% sure they won’t be in based on this new post. That’s cool CC2. You just lost, what like 9 or 10 good story battles. The BEST ARC HANDS DOWN of the first series, GONE. Stupid BS. Why is everyone assuming the Sound 4 are not playable? By my count, we have about 69-70 confirmed characters. That leaves 5-6 left. Also, notice they said 33 new characters. That puts Storm 2′s count at 42 + 33 = 75, not 44 like they said in an interview. This means this time around, they may not count the different Narutos/Sasukes with different ultimates/awakenings as separate characters, only ones with completely different movesets like susanno and sage. That gives us another 2-3 slots. So in the end, we have possibly 5-10 slots left. That’s more then enough to fit 4 characters even if Jirobo’s fat ass will take up two slots.

Your argument is very good, but they say that are 15 support characters, thats mean that 5 more characters are going to be support, the sound four and shizune were support in the first game and are the only characters no annunced who appear in some of the videos. Thet are the only characters who could be these support.

You know you could be very right, there are 5 five more slots for playable characters, and a few more for support only.. If they do include “every naruto character” as they promised, Then the sound four will take those last playable spots. the remaining support only positions will then be filled with characters such as- Iruka, Konohamaru, Baki, etc.. does this make sense?

I want to quote what daewoo94 said. I never even thought about dat since Karin is so damn garbage. Why in the world would Karin make the cut but not sound 4 and now that u mention it im sure the sound 4 will be in since kimmimaru is confirmed and the other 6 characters that havent been confirmed is most likely sound 4 and 2 other people and spam there feedback page that we need the sound 4. Everything is perfect as far as i know since its basically confirmed that we have spectator mode which is just Fking amazing.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I know how it looks right now, but it’s possible some support only characters haven’t been revealed yet, and the Sound 4 will be playable.

I didn’t think of not counting the Sasukes and Narutos with the same movesets as the same characters. They could easily do like they did in Storm 2 and keep them in one slot, but you could choose which one you wanted. There are 69 confirmed right now if they count all of them as separate characters. That leaves 6. If your theory is true, then that would leave 7-10 open slots. If the sound 4 are playable, then that would leave 3-6 more open slots. There’s bound to be surprise characters besides Naruto in his new form.

if u go back and look at the saiyanisland post titled “naruto generations:a look at past and present characters” they counted 72 characters(kabuto wasnt in this one so basically make it 73) and in that 73 were the sound 4, kurenai, anko, and shizune but none of the kage support char. so one can assume all of those are playable and since its only 73 the only 2 characters i think they can add are konohamoru and well i dont no who else, u can guess that one. replay mode great, but not really if the fights end less than 40 secs with the lack of more health. LAME the only reason people , including i , is for the additonal characters.

Im about to defend CC2 a little bit. Everyone is bashing CC2 over the sound 4 and a few tweaks that wasnt put in the game.
I have news for those people who likes to bash, CC2 has added many new features to the game bc of the fan suggestion also there are more fans thats beyond saiyan island that made suggestions. Just bc we THINK some of our suggestions hasnt been added we go on a rampage instead of waiting to c if its confirm of not.

The game hasnt even come out yet and people are acting like they beat the story mode and everything. People are “mad” and “disappointed” over a game thats not going to come out to NA until march. Hence a lot of improvement can be made in the time span of now till feburary.

Also like i stated b4 its only a PRE sequel, what do u expect from them? CC2 said that the purpose of this game was to tweak the battle sytem a little and roster update. so whats with these expectations of clash, every ninja in naruto, Madara, tobi with new mask, covering the entire war arc even though the manga isnt even done covering it, wanting every old character to magically have brand new moves for no reason.

Im not saying that yall are wrong for asking for this stuff im just saying stay realistic while asking for off the wall stuff. Remember this is a business of course they not going to give us everything we want bc they will use that idea later when making a new game, to make us want to buy it. CC2 may care for the fans, but money and strategy is first and any game company will make a imperfect game just to get u to buy the next one with the feature you always wanted in it.

well, eventually they are going to have everything in it, at least for storm 3. And they dont have to take things out just to come out with a newer edition and make money. Thats what DLC is for. Hell when they cover the entire manga they still have room to add things like create a character, custom story mode, expanding online even further, holding specific events, customizing moves for existing characters, making a Vita version with unique controls and features, etc.

The day that they start taking things out then reintroducing them is the moment they become like Madden…and the moment i stop buying their games.

I don’t mean to sound whiny…But the sound 4 arc is my all time fav arc in naruto. I would really love to play as them. CC2 listened to fans about haku and zabuza, Idk why they wouldn’t for the sound 4, the 2nd most requested characters after. I would really appreciate the love.

jermar made a good and valid observation. Before, when the trailer with all the characters was released, saiyanisland pointed out that their were ’73′ characters shown in the opening trailer (including Kabuto who was missing). All of which included the sound 4, Anko, and Kurenai…Now they have confirmed that there are 75 playable characters and 15 support. If you notice, none of the Kage support characters are present in the line up, which COULD mean that most of the playable characters (73) are the ones being shown in the opening line up.

If you looked to the past and present characters there were show 72 characters. With out the bodyguards. Danzo/kabuto would make 74. So might still a change for shizune/anko/kurenai/sound four. So just keep on the hope… So am still guessing what character would fitt the place for 75

I think they shouldn’t have made support-characters, I mean Karin didn’t use any jutsus or else but they still coul do her as normal character in strom 2. Correspondingly, they coul have made the other guys, too. Darui for example who has already used suiton, raiton, ranton and even has a sword!

The story mode couldn’t be complete without the Sound 4. This arc is amazing so it would be a massive mistake is Kimimaro was the only one playable and the only one we can fight in the story mode.

although I would like having them in the game and the arc was nice, they arent that important, Kimimaro was supposed to be the next host, was as strong as orochimaru and his destiny/life objective was to insure sasuke was protected and reached orochimaru, which resonates to this day through jugo. the sound 4 were side characters in this objective, and thus themselves dealt with side characters in their battles. In dragonball z, we wouldnt driectly have cell in his final form if we did not have 17 and 18, they ‘directly’ influenced the sequence of events, and 16 was a ‘direct’ factor in gohan becoming ss2.

I’m not saying they shouldnt be in this game, infact anyone can see they would have very obvious awakenings and movesets, its just that your reason for them being in, comparing them to the importance of the plot, is not a valid argument. they should be in because they would ‘add’ to the quality of the story, and provide 4 more characters for fans to enjoy

Danzo and the sound 4 are on the list of the past n present characters! So with Kabuto, it’s 73. 2 more slots. My guess is the new alternative susake and naruto (Susanoo n 9 tails chakra mode naruto = 75!).

If we set our thoughts on the mere datas they released, we come to a good, and to a bad news.
First of all, they say the game will have 75 fully-playable characters, and 33 that were not in Ninja Storm 2. The new characters revealed so far are:

-Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke PTS
-Hinata, Shino and Kiba PTS
-Lee, Neji and Tenten PTS
-Shikamaru, Ino and Choji PTS
-Gaara, Temari and Kankuro PTS
-First, second and third Hokages
-Raikage, Mizukage and Tsuchikage
-Zabuza and Haku
-Obito and Young Kakashi
-Danzo
-Kimimaro
-Naruto 9 tails chakra mode
-Sasuke with Susanoo

And that’s 29 characters. That means we could expect the sound 4 to be the next ones to be announced… but there is something else that has to be considered: The 15 support only characters.
So far we have:
-Shizune
-Kurenai
-Anko
-Chojuro and Ao
-Kurotsuchi and Akatsuchi
-Shee and Darui
-Fu and Torunè

And that’s 11 characters. So the sound 4 could definetly be support only characters. The fact is, i think the possibilities of having the 4 fully-playable are few, just ask you this question: How many characters are left to be put in the “support-only team”, aside of those 4? Zetsu, maybe. perhaps even Konohamaru or Baki (pretty useless if you ask me), but then? it’s just more logical to add 4 new brand characters and leave those 4 to be support only, or to add those 4 fully playable and just come up with forced support only choices?

I mean, sincerely, it makes more sense to have the sound 4 as support only and to have 4 new fully-playable characters, some of them even as secret ones (still hoping for a fully playable serious Tobi XD).

Also if they are talking about the awakening characters being “playable characters” (ex: 9 tails Naruto, Curse Mark 2 Sasuke) then it’s definitely a sealed deal for them four. Not separate but playable. A awakening character (ex: 9 Tails Naruto, Curse Mark 2 Sasuke) can be “playable” because you’re playing as them when you awaken. And that’s the point i was trying to make when it comes to the total amount of playable characters vs. the support only characters. If CC2 goes based off this, the lights will be dimming down on the sound 4 as being playable characters. Would i like to actually play as them? Yes. But i’m already prepared for them to be support only characters.

First of all, I noticed that the sand trio, have different costumes. Gaara has the one where we first meet him, the sasuke retrieval, and the time skip costume. Temari and Kankuro have the same, but also the kage arc costume… This hopefully doesn’t mean new characters but you never know. The same is true for sasuke and naruto, for they have pajama mode and chunin mode. Also, since this is GENERATIONS, CC2 could add new younger versions of characters like Jiraiya or Orochimaru. This would also take up playable character spots and make the sound 4 not playable. The question is, if the different costumes mentioned above don’t count, WHO FITS THE SPOTS??? 5 more playable and 4 more suppport. The sound 4 ARE CONFIRMED for something, we just don’t know if playable or support. It would make sense for the sound 4 to be support, cause then it would just fill up the spots perfectly for support. I’m pretty sure the large majority of us are opposed to that idea. If the sound 4 are playable, the list of playable characters would be taken up to 74 so there would be room for one more. IDK who, if sound4 are support, would be the other 5 playable. Possibly kabutomaru? Serious tobi? Rinnegan Tobi? Konohamaru? Zetsu? IDK …dear god just include the sound 4. It’ll be the fans Christmas present

honestly, i think Naruto (with 9-tails chakra mode as his awakening) will be a separate character from Naruto as we saw him in NS2. That is mainly because it would make no sense to change Naruto (with rasenshuriken)’s awakening into thet new one, and also because of Sasuke Susanoo being a separate character as well (it is indeed true that he has also a different outfit during the Kage SUmmit arc, but I think it would just make more sense to make the last stage of their training/progress process to be separate from the other ones).

This is just my theory, though.
Of course we should wait for the official confirmation to decide, for now it is just speculations ;D

I would rather prefer the sound 4 to be fully playable, too, but sadly I am starting to give up about that… I think it will be the only great disappointment of this game.

I mean they already have character models, Jutsu’s etc. the only thing they need is a moveset,. why use the same supports as storm 1. people were already pissed that those characters weren’t playable and now they simply keep them all as support.
It’s more Logical to make the supports from storm 1 playable and put in new supports who in turn are then playable in NUNS3, characters from the war or those who have shown too little to have a moveset) like Zetsu, Kabuto*maru, Hanzo, Mifune, (real)Madara, Revived Hokage’s, the Jinchuriki’s, Konohamaru, etc.

I’m still thinking and recover my hope only for one reason, CC2 said that they want to be faithful to the manga/anime story, and for that reason I don’t think that they are going to make again the same form that they use in Naruto Ultimate Ninja, if they promese be faithful, they are going to be a story like the anime/manga, with all fights as they are, the sound four agains the Shikamaru Platoon.

On Shippuden’s side: 35+ Sage Naruto+ Akatsuki Sasuke, CTS/Kirin Sasuke= 38
On Part 1′s side: 37- Anko and Kurenai+ Kabuto(-possibly Sound 4)= 32/36

Both: 32/36+38= 70/74

Now for supports: Misukage’s bodyguards (2)+ Tsuchikage’s bodyguards (2)+ Raikage’s Bodyguards (2)+ Danzo’s bodyguards (2)+ Anko+ Kurenai(+possibly Sound 4)= 10/14

So I either left out one or five playable characters or one or five support characters, or is yet to be confirmed, if I left someone out, please point that character out.

All the characters should be playable, and support characters shouldn’t exist at all. It should be tag. Support characters are pointless. Its just another way to use jutsus. And now that they’re limiting the substitution, it’ll make countering that much more difficult against people that just click the support buttons all day waiting for a tag ultimate jutsu..
