Famitsu Survey Shows Japan Wants One Piece PS3, Not Naruto PS3

Popular Japanese news source Famitsu polls it’s readers as to what video games they are anticipating and includes the top 30 in it’s magazine. In the top 30 are an array of games from PS3, PSP, 3DS, and Wii. Xbox 360 isn’t that popular in Japan so it isn’t surprising to not see a game from the console making the list. What is surprising is that there is no sign of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Yes the game is for Xbox 360, but it is also for PS3. In an anime centric country where Naruto is one of the most popular series, it’s a shocker that not even 94 fans out of the thousands polled want to get their hands on it.

What the survey from Famitsu Issue 1208, which was released on January 26, 2012 in Japan, does show is fans want One Piece. One Piece: Kaizoku Musou (One Piece: Pirate Warriors) is the 3rd most wanted game by Famitsu readers. The game is expected to be released in less than a month in Japan on March 1st, 2012. No North American release date has been announced, and as for a European release, it is rumored, but no date or official announcement as of yet.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is expected to be released on February 23, 2012 in Japan, March 13, 2012 in North America, and March 30, 2012 in Europe.

Below are the top 30 most wanted games by Famitsu readers as of Issue 1208 along with the amount of people that voted for them.

Its no suprise when one piece is one the best popular titles in japan and has the sold the most copies in jump history, there have already been 2 naruto games for the PS3 and kaizoku musou will be the long awaited first. Naruto is usually read by children and teenagers where as one piece has more older readers, in japan the younger people dont play consoles as much as handhelds like the psp and ds which is why generations may not be as popular as ultimate ninja impact.

I imagine its because there has already been 2 other Naruto games on the PS3, and this is the first One Piece game to come out on PS3, as well as (as far as I know) the first OP game to fully retell the manga storyline up to the New World. @Luis – How are we getting Generations later? Pirate Warriors hasnt even been confirmed for a US or European release but Generations is coming out on March 30th. If it comes out at all outside of Japan, One Piece probably wont arrive until around Fall, if not later.

Well im kinda not surprised well maybe a little but not by much a lot people are right about other fans wanting something new and i agree even though naruto is my favorite anime the games have been the same lately. Naruto generations is going to be sick but a lot people and fans probably look at it as only have a few extra characters and new features with it which is kinda true. It doesn’t suprise me that one piece is one of the most wanted games since one peice is one of the most popular anime’s even more so than naruto. I think one piece is exactly what people are looking for something totally new and that’s probably what their going to get when they get the one piece game. Personally I will always prefer naruto over one piece especially since I haven’t been a fan of one piece since I was younger but who knows I might even get the one piece game too maybe it will make me like the anime again.

Its natural. Generations is almost the same as Storm 2, just more characters and a few improvements. While One Piece Kaizoku Musou is the 1st PS3 game of the franchise, so the people are more excited about it more than Generations. I don’t like One Piece but i have to respect the game And i like Naruto a lot!

Japan’s manga/anime market is the largest single market in the entire world, contributing about 50% of the world’s manga/anime sales. One Piece Kaizoku Musou will sell more, earn more, and make all the customers happy. Naruto games can enter the DB stage and release games exactly like the ones before but with a few more characters. And saying One Piece KM is exactly like the previous Musou games is idiotic as hell. naruto is way more popular then one piece in europe and america the most guys who think naruto sucks is becuz they haven’t seen it or they just saw one of the boring naruto episodes but in naruto shippuden there are no stupid episodes (except for the fillers but every anime has those…) so watch naruto shippuden and then say what u think ’bout it…anyway it’s just because naruto generations is more like a ninja storm 2 but more characters and a little better..for the guys who already have storm 1 and 2 it will not be a that big of a surprise for one piece it will be more of a surprise!!;p

Trust me, all us One Piece fans have seen Naruto because we were once Naruto fanboys just like yourself, but Naruto started getting annoying with fillers, cliche plotline on the “chosen one,” and “SASUKE!” So we watched One Piece from the influence from either friends or because we haven’t seen it for a while because of ……..*shivers* 4kids. So that’s why most One Piece fans prefer One Piece over Naruto.
