European retailer GAME has recently put up a listing for Dragon Ball 3D. According to the retailer, “Dragon Ball kicks into 3D with all new features and gameplay designed for the Nintendo 3DS hardware.” The listed price for Dragon Ball 3D is £24.99 ($30 USD) and the release date is sometime in 2012.
Two years ago, Namco Bandai did make an announcement for a Dragon Ball 3DS title, but nothing to our knowledge has transpired since then.
Just as some background, in a recent interview at the 2012 Japan Expo, Dragon Ball Z for Kinect producer Koji Nakajima, through a translator, mentioned Namco Bandai will continue to publish Dragon Ball games. When specifically asked if there were any Nintendo 3DS or Sony PSVita games in the works he mentioned “we can’t make any announcement, but we’ll see in the future”. Based on those statements, Dragon Ball 3D is certainly possible.
To be clear, however, Saiyan Island considers the release of Dragon Ball 3D a RUMOR for now. Retailers will sometimes put up placeholder pages for games that will not necessarily be released. We aren’t sure what the case here is, but we will be sure to keep you updated if something develops!
