Dragon Ball Z 2013 Movie Story Part of Series

The Dragon Ball Z 2013 movie will be the 18th movie in the Dragon Ball anime series. To date, there have been 4 Dragon Ball movies and 13 Dragon Ball Z movies. Of the 13 Dragon Ball Z, all have been spin-offs that have nothing to do with the story of Dragon Ball Z. The new 2013 movie, however, will change things. Multiple sources have informed Saiyan Island the Dragon Ball Z 2013 movie story will be a part of the Dragon Ball Z series.

The timeline is between Dragon Ball Z manga chapters 323 and 324 (or 517 and 518 when factoring in the original Dragon Ball). In other words, Dragon Ball Z 2013 will tell the story of what happens after Goku defeats Kid Buu and during the 10 year timeskip before the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament.

The director of the Dragon Ball Z 2013 movie will be Masahiro Hosoda, who has worked on Dragon Ball Z and Naruto Shippuden episodes. Screenplay will be by Yusuke Watanabe from the live-action 20th Century Boys trilogy and Tadayoshi Yamamuro from Dragon Ball Movie 4: The Path to Power and One Piece Film Strong World will be acting as the lead animation director. Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z, and his company (Bird Studio) will be deeply involved in the production of the movie.

There is a list of other companies who are also involved in the production, including Toei Animation, Fox International Productions Japan, Shueisha, Fuji TV, Bandai, and Namco Bandai Games. Dragon Ball Z 2013 (tentative title) will be released in Japanese theaters on March 30, 2013. No word for a North American or European release at this time.

Gohan most likely won’t lose his mystic powers, that was probably just one of GT’s multiple plotholes that they can’t fix. Also, it was never confirmed by Akira Toriyama that Gohan was the strongest non-fused character because based on scenes from Buu saga he isn’t. In fact if he was getting his ass handed to him by Super Buu(Gotenks Absorbed), do you think he would even last with Kid Buu like Goku did? Goku is the REAL strongest non fused character since he’s stronger than Kid Buu for a short while until his power gets drained from using SSJ3 for too long, because unlike Goku, Kid Buu has a ridiculously large amount of stamina.

I doubt that Vegeta will go SSJ3 in this movie if it’s canon since at the end of DBZ Vegeta didn’t seem too disappointed about Goku leaving to train with Uub. If he obtained SSJ3 you know that Vegeta would be dying to fight Goku and prove that he’s the strongest Saiyan of all.

Even if he doesn’t go SSJ3 in this movie, I’m pretty sure that this won’t be the last time that we see DBZ. Remember the Episode of Bardock movie? As long as there’s still being characters made in Dragon Ball Heroes I don’t think that we have to worry about DBZ going away anytime soon.

GT has almost nothing to do with Akira Toriyama other than the fact that he helped a little with the series which is why you don’t see much of GT so a series with Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. is most unlikely. Now a series that I want to see is an actual sequel to DBZ made by Akira Toriyama himself or his apprentice Ooishi Naho in which Toei has nothing to do with it(unless they add a little bit of filler).

This movie is set BEFORE the 10 year time gap at the end of Z. I highly doubt Vegeta became SSJ3 during that period. It would have been highlighted at the end of the series.

Even though I’m a Dragon Ball fan and it being from my childhood I’m getting tired of so much DBZ in general. Continuous game releases that aren’t even that great, re-releases of the series on DVD and bluray. The main thing I’m looking forward to is Budokai HD collection and waiting for Funimation to release Dragon Ball, GT and Movies Dragon Boxes. This upcoming movie sounds interesting though. But i can wait.

I’ve been a fan since dragonball. Z is the best out of the series hands down. i am happy to see that the movie takes place after buu. I’m thrilled that the people responsible for shippuden will be working on the production of this, as Naruto to me is just as good if not better than dragonball. what makes super buu “stronger” is the ability to think and plan his attacks. kid buu’s power level and actual strength is a lot higher then super buu. thats why he was so worried about loosing his absorbed enemy’s he knew he would not be in control not weaker.

The movie was already released in Japan and some people were generous enough to leak clips of the best pars of the movie and none of them show Vegeta going SSJ3 and even if he does it wouldn’t be a match for Bills since Bills can still take on SSJ God Goku with ease.
