Dragon Ball Z Budokai: HD Collection Press Release, Screenshots

If you haven’t seen it already, then give the Dragon Ball Z Budokai: HD Collection – First Trailer a watch! At the 2012 Japan Expo, Namco Bandai Games unveiled the latest game in the Dragon Ball Z series – a compilation of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 1 and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, but with improved graphics and support for trophies/achievements.

It’s unclear if the game will have online, but we at Saiyan Island are pretty sure Budokai 3 fans will want one. Dragon Ball Z Budokai: HD Collection is set to release on the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in Europe Winter 2012. We anticipate a similar time frame for North America, although nothing has been announced. No word on a Japanese release either.

So budokai 1 and 3? No 2? Granted the story mode sucks in 2 but it still wouldn’t be a collection without it. Anyways, Budokai 3 was one of the greatest dbz games of all time. I may have to get this just for the trophies.

Btw, its a shame that the tenkaichi news was a fake. Hopefully, the next game in the tenkaichi series will be the greatest of all dbz games.

I don’t care if i look like a baby, PLEASE have online. PLEASE!! It’s the one thing that will make this collection relevant! I’m probably going to buy it anyway, but if there’s online I’d buy 100 copies. Hear that Namco? You’ll get 100 copies worth of money from me if you add online! Yes, I”M FREAKING INSANE.

And the graphics do indeed look much more polished and clean. Glad they didn’t half ass the HD upgrade.

Oh, hey, where’s that guy that was arguing with me that it was “definitely” Tenkaichi based on his invisible source? Hmm… just 1 thing to say…

Budokai 1 is kinda useless, IMO. I’d rather have Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3 in the collection with online mode. But oh well, I’ll probably get this anyway, altough Budokai 1 is kinda lame.

@ durose james, yes please to that, spam like you never have before and demand online for the game for ps3/360 and also demand infinite world,budokai 2 if you want and tell people to do that if you want, they cant afford to get lazy now, not with DBZ classics.

Budokai 1 had better cinematics in a story mode than any DBZ game in history. The only Story Mode that was even able to get anywhere close to it would probably have to be Burst Limit. You should check them out if you haven’t seen them, Budokai 3 had better gameplay, but without Budokai 1 there wouldn’t be a Budokai 3 so it’s good to show newcomers what Budokai first looked like. Tenkaichi 3 was also fun, but the story mode was a piece of garbage.

Tenkaichi 3 is one of my all time favourites on the wii. that might sound strange but no other wii-game i played used the motion controls in the same perfect way this game did. And in a Dragon Ball Z-Game the story is really the last thing i care about!^^

I agree that Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was fun for the Wii but you must remember that when Budokai was released nobody even though about motion gaming(except for the plug in ones and the Nintendo power glove which was a piece of garbage) and the gameplay was great for its time. Look at DBGT: Final Bout(which was the first 3D DB game I believe) and then look at DBZ: Budokai and you will see why it was an epic game for its time.

I know all that but we’re in 2012. I don’t think Budokai 1 would be any good now since we have Budokai 3 and Burst Limit. I don’t care what people say but Burst Limit is actually a pretty good game, better than Budokai 1 atleast, since it’s a improved game with better graphics and Online Mode. So, this is just my opinion but Budokai is really useless to me, I’m not going to feel enthusiastic when playing that game since I already played it and the graphics are way too bad now. xD
I saw a post in a forum where a guy said that he rather pay 20/30€$ for HD Budokai 3 than 40/60€$ for Budokai 3 + 1. I completely agree with him. I would pay 40€ for BT3 and B3 but not 40€ for B1 and B3. :S
But that’s what my mind tells me. I’m going to buy this anyway since when it’s about DBZ I always go with the heart LOL

Well graphics don’t make a video game, gameplay does. You may not enjoy this game, but people that got to play the first 3D Dragon Ball Z game back in the day will and will realize how difficult the boss battles were against Final Form Frieza and Pefect Cell back in the day. The graphics may be “bad” but unlike Burst Limit(and most video games today) you will actually get a challenge out of fighting the computers instead of blowing past everything in less then a week, that’s what I can’t stand about video games nowadays they’re just WAY too damn easy to beat now and the only way to get a challenge is to add online multiplayer.

I really don’t think people give enough credit to the games that were made in order to make better games today. Without Budokai 1 there wouldn’t even be a Burst Limit. Budokai 1 will always be good no matter what time and age it is. DBZ Budokai 1 forever!

Mehh… I never really liked 2D fighters. If this was tenkaichi 3 and budokai 3, I would definitely pick it up. As it is, this gets a “maybe” from me.

People should stop bitching about Budokai 1, i played it last week on my playstation 2 and it was the BEST afternoon of my adulthood, then i played Budokai 2 and shit went down, i played Budokai 3 it was fairly decent, then Tenkaichi 1 and was all nostalgic, then Tenkaichi 2 and jizzed everywhere, then Tenkaichi 3 MADE MY ENTIRE YEAR, then those OTHER games for playstation 3…

IMO if they put the roster from tenkaichi 3, into raging blast 1, and removed some of the blocks from the customization = best game. out of the raging blast series RB1 had the most stable online, with the exception of people who had bad connections and cheaters, and the best character customization. add in the fact that tenkaichi3 had the biggest roster of any fighting game i know of. and you got yourself a winner. as far as how it looks the worse it looks the smoother the gameplay will probably be online lol

I’ve always been a fan of the 2D DBZ games so I would be happy if Bandai came back one last time and created DBZ: Shin Butouden 4 with up to date graphics, a roster as big as Raging Blast 2(don’t need a BT3 roster because most of them were just cloned characters), and customizable moves. If anybody saw DBZ: Ultimate Butouden for the DS they should know how much potential the Butouden series has if it ever reaches home consoles again.
