Naruto is #1 (Japanese Comic Rankings, July 23 to July 29)

Naruto Manga Volume 61 Cover The 61st volume of the Naruto manga hit Japanese retailers just last week on July 27, 2012. The sales numbers are in and after two days on the market, Naruto is #1 by a landslide! According to Japenese statistics company Oricon, 706,697 copies of Naruto manga volume 61 flew off shelves, which is more than triple the second best seller for the week of July 23 to July 29!

How does Naruto manga volume 61 fare against some of the past volumes in the series? Saiyan Island has compiled a summary of the past 10 releases in their first week on the Japanese market, check it out below!

    Ok, I’m happy Naruto won because it’s my current favorite manga (and I’m happy Soul Eater made it at 4th!) but I’m surprised that One Piece and Bleach aren’t up there somewhere as well.

     Unfortunately, Reborn never took off as it should have.  It’s a damn shame though, one of the greatest mangas, in terms of art and story, that I’ve ever read.

    You should probably calm down. I wasn’t insulting One Piece or Bleach. In fact, I was saying that they should have been up there as well because they’re both good manga. No, I didn’t research it, that’s why I was confused and that’s why I posted in the first place.

    I do not represent every Naruto fan, and generalizing statements like that make you seem like a douche bag and an idiot. Different people like different things. If you don’t like it, keep it to yourself. I’m not holding it against “One Piece” fans because you felt the need to be an obnoxious asshole with literally no provocation.

    you should, i wasn’t a huge fan of manga either till about a year ago. it was always anime for me, but trust me there are some good manga out there, and once you starting reading them you’ll lose the feeling of it has to be an anime for me to enjoy it. trust me you will

    on a week that didnt include a one piece release it isnt surprising, if there was one it would do 4 times Naruto, since its the most popular in japan by heaps. I mean just look at the manga yearly sales last year (37 million to 5 if i remember)

    that would be interesting, but just based on all time one piece sales in japan vs the world in Naruto i would safely assume One Piece for the win by far, especially since i doubt Naruto has more sales than DBZ but i know One Piece has. 
    Besides when thinking of Naruto US sales i only think of people viewing on the net and not buying. the sales would be kinda low..

    Manga doesn’t sell even half as much in America as it does in Japan because not that many Americans read nowadays unless it’s Twilight, The Hunger Games, or Harry Potter.

    congrats to kish-sensei, even though i have seen naruto being ranked no.1 lots of times still i am happy to hear it, and i will continue to buy it this great series :D . all that is left for me to buy are volume 58,59,60,61 i can’t wait for these to come out in UK :)

    i like the manga cover except kishi made itachi pale white i mean when you notice that it’s got to give you shivers -shivers- they should of made him normal colour anywayz the edo tensei dosen’t make people pale (unless they were pale from the very begginging)

    your going of the anime your self and what you saw when orochimaru used it. not every anime gets colour right. or facts for example shippuden battle scales have gotten larger madara said only first comes on par with his power. look at what madara done. and what 3rd vs orochimaru 1st 2nd did? if that was done during shippuden it scale would been larger.. also note this 

    sometimes manga makes no sence

    Madara “shouldnt use jutsu on somone who knows how to counter it” and he used edo tensi on him self. and looked more like Orochimaru’s version. with out flakey skin.. yet second Hokage invented that jutsu why didint he do the same? take control of him self own body be immortal

    Manga is a lot more expensive in America than it is in Japan. You can buy two manga volumes for the price of one in Japan. Also it’s a lot easier to obtain. In Japan manga is sold in practically every corner store. In the U.S. and Europe you have to make a specific trip to a large book store to even obtain the popular volumes.
    Anime has always been more popular in than manga in America.
