Naruto Storm 3 Hack and Slash: Top 5 Desires

A hack and slash mode has been announced for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (Naruto Storm 3). As of today, September 9th, it’s unclear what the hack and slash mode will contain, nevertheless, we at Saiyan Island are extremely excited for it!

We expect this mode will tell the Naruto Storm 3 story in a new, and different way than Storm 1, Storm 2, and Generations. Our desires, however, are so much more than that! We want the best of the past games with an extra omph! To elaborate a bit more, we’ve created a Naruto Storm 3 Hack and Slash: Top 5 Desires list to communicate to you, our faithful reader, and our friends at CyberConnect2 what we would love to see! Feel free to give your two cents in the comments and add to the list!

Note: This is a Saiyan Island wishlist!

5. Combos Variations and Multiple Jutsus That Can Be Swapped During Battle

The first thing we thought of when we saw the new scan was the PSP adventure, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact. In Naruto Impact, each character had multiple combos that could easily be performed, more than those in the Storm series! We loved that and would definitely love to see a larger variation of combos in Naruto Storm 3. Below are two videos that show some of Impact’s gameplay, with combos included. The video on the left is of Naruto, while the right is of Sasuke.

The thing we didn’t like about Naruto Impact was that each character was stuck with the same jutsus. Say we are Sasuke, performing Chidori as a jutsu and Kirin as the Ultimate Jutsu. One can only execute the same jutsu so many times before it feels repetitive. So, as the hacking and slashing is going on, we’d like the ability to swap out our jutsus on the fly. Maybe pause the game, go into an options menu and switch Chidori with, for example, Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu and then continue on and keep hacking away!

4. Free Roam Multiple Environments

In Naruto Storm 1 it was a joy to free roam in a completely open Leaf Village, jumping, flipping, and performing an array or acrobatics. In Naruto Storm 2 we enjoyed the ability to go to a variety of venues from the Naruto world, including the Hidden Sand Village and Hidden Rain Village. We’d absolutely love if CyberConnect2 combined the best of both those worlds into Naruto Storm 3! In other words, we’d love to openly explore each of the five villages and the paths in between. That includes jumping on buildings, breaking objects, collecting items, and of course the added feature of beating up the bad guys in hack and slash fashion!

3. Multiplayer Co-op

Beating up bad guys is great, but nothing beats the feeling of beating them up with a friend! The Naruto series mantra is to fight alongside comrades, and in Saiyan Island’s opinion, multiplayer co-op for Naruto Storm 3 is a must! We propose the option to have at least one friend be able to jump into the action. We would be very satisfied with that.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 does support up to four players, however, and in Naruto, teams do often consist of four man cells. What a mega bonus would that be if CyberConnect2 could do that!

2. Online Hack and Slash

Spam is the biggest complaint when it comes to online in the Storm series. If the hack and slash component were to be an online mode in addition to an offline one, spam would be a non-factor as you won’t be fighting against other players, you’d be fighting alongside them!

We would love to see two types of online hack and slash in Naruto Storm 3 – the first being a complete cooperative online story mode. Roaming the free Naruto world we mentioned in Number 4 of this article, in an online multiplayer co-op fashion!

The other would be a competition to see who can defeat the most enemies in a specific time limit! Allow swapping of jutsus like we mentioned in number 5, but limit the amount of times each can be used. Add in the side effect of being vulnerable while swapping jutsus and leaderboards to make it a bit more interesting!

1. Include All Playable Free Battle Characters in Hack and Slash Mode

We Naruto fans are all about the characters. Any character that is playable in Naruto Storm 3′s free battle should also be playable in hack and slash mode. We will most certainly will be overjoyed with these 100 characters.

After reading the list you may think “hey what about having a Naruto MMORPG in Naruto Storm 3?”. You bet Saiyan Island would be all over a Naruto MMORPG, but Storm is a bit more of linear, following the Naruto story, so we’d much rather have a completely different game for that!

5. The quality for those two videos were so horrible I wasn’t even able to watch them really. I think its a good idea, so-so. I’m really big on new combos though, one of my fears with the Storm series is I’ll get bored of it, it just gets so redundant. They should definately change that.

3. YES. I want to play co-op with people. Do you realize how epic it would be to play a BOSS BATTLE with friends? “Dude, press the button, press the button!!” That would be SO fun. And in free battle, too, multiplayer IS the way to go. I hope you guys are sending your ideas in or CC2 checks your site or something becuse you need recognition.

Naruto with RPG elements would be very awesome and interesting, especially if it was an online RPG mode. Maybe a 4 player co-op mode where your “Team” takes various kinds of missions, it could be either a retrive a scroll or defeat a band of rogue ninjas mission. As you play you would gain Exp. and level up earning different skills and Jutsu, there could also be a currency system where you buy items and unlockables…

I’m getting ahead of myself but this would be cool to see. Definitely something new since the fighting mechanics offer nothing fresh and exciting.

i just want the specials to go OtherWorldly like they used to be in the ultimate ninja games and have a variety of different specials too. For the ultimate forms to have their own unique otherworldly specials and have a variety for them too. and allow you to pick whether or not you want to start a match awakened and be able to customize characters with different things so that they can be stronger and stuff. I quite agree with your Top 5 SaiyanIsland, here’s mine :
1) Online coop (survival-like)
2) Multiple Jutsus that can be swapped in-game
3) Possibility to pick any character from the roaster in multiplayer mode (not solo, of course)
4) Combined Ultimates in multiplayer mode
5) Nice opponents (not only Samurais, Ninjas or white Zetsus), so minibosses too.

I agree with what you say and thats a awsome idea, but it is horrible for the storm series. It would completely destroy all the iconic mechanisms that make the storm series the storm series. If it was its OWN game series, I would be all over it! But in the end, its your perogative and I have no right to judge. And i’ll be getting the game reguardless.

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations was a game that was to easy and to quick to complete. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 keep me in the game trying to get and complete all the trophies. Storm 2 kept me interested until Generations came out. Now, we need a Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm game that keeps us into the game until the next one comes out. Generations failed at that part. Generations kept you interested but once you completed the story and the other two battle modes you was done with the game completely. I say more trophies (Ps3) and Achievements (Xbox 360). No support characters just all playable characters. Hack and Slash with mutliple Ultimate Jutsu, Regular Jutsu, and Combos as said by Saiyan Island. Multiple players in hack and slash. Keep the tournament and survival modes. The ability to start in awakening mode as well.

well you forget they completed the game in less than a year, and most of the things were recycled and just re-ferbished. but even in that little time they weren’t able to completly finnish the game they wish they could have. maby with another half a year we could have been able to have all playable characters, with no sup. But this new game has had even more work done it than Generations. so all characters should be a garentee to be playable.

One thing I notice is that they didn’t remove the Sub bar in Hack ‘n Slash mode. They should remove it. It’s unfair. U could lose Sub bar quickly with tons of enemy.

Hey speaking of a multiplayer mode, I think this hack and slash would work well if there was a sort of mode similiar to gears of war horde mode where you team up with friends or a.i to fight waves of enemies and each new wave gets harder and harder with moore powerful enemies until you end up fighting giant tailed beasts or even 5 Madara. Just some food for thought here.

what would be more epic is if you were able to not just fight with them but against them like a 1 vs 100! what i mean is instead of having a fight with one person online you battle a variety of people at once through out the whole village! fight in the air and buildings and you don’t have to worry about getting jumped because all you have to do is run away and battle someone else and to make it even better how about adding a giant boss in there and fight that!!! or find the secret scroll and be the one that destroy everything and kill everyone. there could be 2 modes! last one sanding or most kills . then the game will be truly epic

Why are a lot of people complaining about jutsu clashes being a bad thing for online battles,you don’t know the number of rasegan spammers this would help take off the game,there are so many more things that I can think of that would help taking off spammers from the game,Example-I am pretty sure we all have faced off against ranged battlers or Ninja tool spammers like deidara,Sasuke,shino,tenten.etc this could easily be solved by letting the player at the other end use there character’s combo to deflect there ranged attacks or ninja tools,this might seem like a little feature,but you don’t know how much this would help taking off spammers on the game online,I understand they need to put in new features to the game, but what good would they be if they are not thought out properly,Example 2 sub bars should’ve been there since storm 1,and if you think these little things in no way can make the gameplay slower online.

The sub bars suck actually.they take forever to come back and when some characters attacks hit like 4 times or more then you end up using all subs and get bullcrapped.I don’t see how putting jutsu clashes in the game would stop spammers.People are still gonna sub behind and spam their rasengan like faggots.Obviously you have no time to clash if he subs behind and bullcraps you.Of course jutsu clashes would slow the game down because the online is laggy as it is.Plus,what sense would it make to have a jutsu clash between a fireball and say tentens long range jutsu or shinos bugs.It would be pretty retarded.

The sub bar system isn’t perfect,as I said they need to think out what there gonna put into the game,they just need to tweak up the sub bar system,and about jutsu clashing you cannot sub your way out,example when a rasegan spammer is using his rasegan you can easily use your jutsu to counter it,like with sasuke you can use chidori to counter it,thus solving the problem of spamming rasegan.

So I’m guessing it will be: Storm 2 Travel and World System. Storm 1/2 Battles and Boss Battles. And Impact Hack and Slash Battles throughout the game. Like against Samurai and White Zetsu Clones.

they should make hack and slash co-op for offline too so we could mix jutsus (on teams:fireball+wind blast=bigger fire ball {if not on teams it just cancels}, water+lightning= like sasukes chidori stream, fire+shurikens= like itachis flame shuriken, etc)

It might, the way story mode will be played out hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet but they just posted a new scan of the Ultimate Ninja Impact style in Storm 3 of Sasuke fighting the samurai at the Kage Summit. It could be a seperate mode or they might mix it up like how they did in the classic Ultimate Ninja games for PS2.

Hiya, I posted a theory about this and it looks like its actually happening, would love your opinion on it, and I was a bit skeptical of where the plot was going, but it now looks like everything is actually tying up together, with the pieces falling in place nicely.

Btw SPOILER, I see Obito as a mirror image or Nagato, both had such strong connections to the morals of the village (for Obito it was his comrades and the 4th, for Nagato it was Jiraiya), yet were twisted to various extremes (I think Obito may have been brainwashed by Madaras sharinghan, and artificially aged which explains how he fought the 4th, and why body parts were deteriorating. Perhaps this ties in Orochimaru, and Tobi’s/Obito’s fear of how much he actually knew) even though it would seem impossible for them to turn out that way and do such things (this thought popped into my head as Kakashi demanded to know what made Obito this way)

And SPOILER love how Madara is the true puppet master, and created a deeply convoluted plan, which was in progress even during his death. Plus its a triple twist, given we were lead to believe that Tobi was actually Madara, then that Madara was just Kabuto’s pawn, and finally now that he was actually using Kabuto as a pawn through Obito.

taking off his jacket and his speed would be fast and he fight’s with

Well even though I love that type of splitscreen, it’s only good for fixed cameras. So if they plan on making the camera’s fixed and not controllable, thats a great idea, but if they let us control the cameras then it wouldn’t work.

The only connection I see between the two chapters is that both kakashi and obito woke up asking the same question “am I dead”? other than that I don’t understand, unless you’re applying that both kakashi and obito shared the same exerienced, kakakshi woke up to his master and obito woke up with his new master.. while both the frames showed obito’s eyes. as if obito was the one to of woken from both. oh boy I must I have too much free time to had done that lol.

They should really add a dodge system like say if i don’t have any subs & u guys know how DBZUT is when it makes a line go across & u’ll have to make it in the circle ok say if i was using sasuke & i was fighting naruto i used up all my subs & naruto is combing me then suddenly buttons pop up i want to say triangle + O but thats jutsu’s so L2 + Triangle + O to dodge but not just some dull BS dodge a dodge that has to do with that chara’s abillity ok i press it just as naruto is about to hit me i got the timing right just like in DBRB2 u use R1 to snap vanish ok but when i dodge depending on what sasuke i have ok cm sasuke well hm well its not really dodging but i think its more of a counter k so cm sasuke uses his snake that comes from his neck & blocks naruto now MS sasuke either he can use susanoo ribs or genjutsu ems sasuke a spark of amterasu but he gets stun cause he releases the flames so it won’t kill them cause uk amaterasu 1 shot kill as for itachi his is more of a sub & he’s standing beside them while they are supposely hitting him

lol I had the most PAINFUL DREAM yesterday, I dreamt I was Naruto had the kyubii inside me and then Sasuke came out of nowhere and stab me on the back and push the sword deeper inside me I fealt a lot of pain and rage unleashing full power of the Kyubii and became Omega 10 tails lol, and shot a very powerful omega blast to sasuke and send him flying again the wall and he was really really really badly injured and and I was like he is dead and the opening 12th opening started playing in the background and I quickly woke up lol O_O

@Christopher Osagie,About deflecting,I just thought about something simple which could solve
that problem,I didn’t say that you literally use your characters combo
to deflect ranged attacks, they can use kunai to deflect there attacks
and Ninja tools,does that make more sense to you,and you cannot disagree
here,cause even in the manga as well as the Anime,the character’s use
there Kunai to deflect Ninja tools and deflect attacks,and for god
sake,stop it your acting dumb by complaining,about everything storm 3
will have if you don’t like it then don’t buy it,if your that keen on
buying non spammable fighting games from Namco bandai go play tekken, I
was just giving my suggestions,also about people awakening right in the
starting of the match,you can easily counter that by awakening your
self,or you can just keep throwing your own support characters at them
until they run out of there sub bar,and combo there life bar to a good
low level,all that your complaining about can simply be solved if you
know how to play the game properly,and about lag,you can filter players
by your region,this is a very effective way to dodge laggy play
online,this is the exact reason why they put region filter in the
game,so your complaining is quiet pointless,and the sub bars were little
broken,I agree myself,but it was normal,because they had only a little
number of people working on the game,this was because half the team was
working on other games(Asura’s wrath,Naruto storm 3),but after they
finished making both generations and Asura’s wrath,they all started
working on this single project(Naruto storm 3),to tell you the truth I
think the reason why they weren’t letting out to much Info on the
game,was maybe they were tweaking up the old feature’s like the sub bars
and some broken characters like the masked man,I can support this by
the fact that we didn’t get to see Masked man do his jutsu even once on
the demo of the game they have shown to us,so please stop hating on the
game,they put 2.5 years of work into this game they must have something
up there sleeves,and you were saying that you cannot counter sapmming Rasegan Naruto’s,because they will sub behind you and spam more,this make’s no sense at all cause,when both side use a jutsu they cannot sub,except if its a ranged jutsu like fire ball jutsu,do you even know how the game’s mechanics work?,did you ever play storm 1 and tried to do a jutsu clash?,if not then that explains why you don’t know much about the game.
