Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 – Two Awakening Types

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 will have two different awakening types. The first is the traditional one we’ve been seeing since Naruto Storm 1 – hold of the triangle button when health dips under a certain level. An example can be seen at the video at this link. The second, new type of awakening is the one with a flick of the left analog stick. An example is from the Minato vs Masked Man footage at the San Diego Comic-Con.

At the 2012 New York Comic Con, players were presented with a screen showing all the playable characters in that particular arena’s demo. Sasuke and Hanzo can awaken only when their health dips, while Mifune, Darui, Naruto, and Minato can awaken at anytime. CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama has mentioned there are risks to awakening at anytime. What are those risks? According to Saiyan Island fan Raymond Rivera, if a player uses their awakening early, the chakra bar decreases (example screenshot here).

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2′s fourth entry in the Storm series. It will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in Japan, North America, and Europe sometime Spring 2013. It will begin with the incident with the Nine Tailed Fox from 16 years ago, continue on to the Five Kage Arc, and go up to the Shinobi War, covering latest episode of Naruto Shippuden before the game’s release.

Where is your snapshot? This was in a video Saiyan Island already posted. If you took a snapshot it was from their video lol. So technically you stole from them and they are using what was theirs already.

I like the old school awakenings because of the animations, but I always wanted to awaken early with KCM Naruto so I call this win! specially since it sounds like both are in it!

Doing it this way I think isn’t very good. Depending on how the game turns out the characters that can go into awaking early could have a huge advantage over the characters that cant.

What I think they’re doing, for the demo, seperating the two types for fans to see the difference. Both should be possible in the full game.

Like the guy stated in the interview, like since naruto learned how to. Ontrol the kyubii. Chakra it would be appropriate for him to activate at will like the tv show but some other characters like itachi didn’t use sussano until he was about to die.

It wouldn’t be fair if people could spam their itachi & danZo awakenings from the start.

Itachi should be allowed to awaken early, cause ever since he was revived by kabuto, he spammed the living crap out of it, clearly the only reason he used susanoo late against sasuke was because he was sick and was going easy.

however you’re right it would be unfair to use him early, but that was the reason why the developers add a “risk” to it, so I don’t think it’ll be a issue for susanoo and danzo users. CC2 should put up an early list of who and who can’t awaken early.

If I read it correctly, its not really “2 different awakening types,” its just the fact that some characters can awaken at any point while others cannot.

That is correct. Which I think is a good addition to the game! It will mix up battles and strategies a little more.

Chars who can enter everly don´t have an advantage, after their maybe shorter awakening is over, there chacra bar decreses and what will happen? they Can´t (maybe) use Ultimate Jutsu anymore
And thank god CC2 did this, giving characters some different strategy, amybe they feel less teh same anymore! ^^

Big ass susano’o in the middle of a combo to completely destroy the opponent in like 5 seconds is completely unfair. They have their reasons. They are probably going to do the same to sage naruto and the 6 tails. Why Hanzo can’t awaken whenever he wants is kind of a wtf, but it is what it is.

I hope the Curse mark sasuke can awakening in the beggining , Because I love Curse Mark state, In Nun Storm1 I can play it 1min that is enought good, but in Storm 2 and Generations His awakening is only for a 30seconds sometimes it feels too short.

I was thinking that all characters will have it bought, Standard awakening and with Tilt.(ofcorse all awakenings balanced for Storm3).

Why Hanzo have Awakening for 30seconds only :( he have nothing special in awakening mode only on R1/L1 but all characters will have it
That should be all characters who doesn’t have anything new like Karin, sakura, kiba, Pain… will have awakenings for 1min on analog stick.
and those who have something new: Minato, Sasorii, Sasuke, Itachi, Naruto, Kakuzu… will have for 30 seconds.
Because I’m sure that there is a character that will can Awakening from the beggining for 1minute and is OVER POWERED. I hope that the Sage naruto can’t awakening from the beggining because in STORM2 and GENERATIONS his Awakening is OVER POWERED. Jump and spam Chakra shuriken/Chakra Air, in storm2 this destroy guard, and in storm generations it makes guard red but when we want to chakra dash it makes chakra air dash because Kyuubi is in the air, character get less chakra dash range and get hit, even if we fall on the ground, that air get hit us :. Sage naruto and naruto 4 tail awakenings are OVERPOWERED I hope they will change for the STORM3. I know that this guy from CyberConnect2 love Sage naruto but please, all characters balanced don’t be a baby, you lose match, you use over powered awakening and get happy that you win the match god damn it.

It will, but that will also mean that some characters will have a better chance of getting a head start from the very beginning of the game while others will have to potentially suffer a savage beatdown. To just make it fair, they should just allow all the characters to automatically awaken.

Hmm… this is actually interesting. We’ll see if this balances things or not, since certain characters can awaken at anytime but there are some major drawbacks.

Btw, know what this probably means? Can’t charge chakra for a while in Awakening mode? No more awakening mode jutsu spam, hehe. ^_^

I just wanted to point out that naruto is exactly the same. But since the game is called “Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3,” I am positive that there will be a new naruto with permanent KCM and probably bijuu mode awakening(maybe not….if not then he’ll probably something like “Golden Spark” mode where he’s OD fast). I’m sorry for the randomness of this post but I got into an argument awhile ago with someone and they told me that there wouldn’t be a permanent KCM naruto which just sounded utterly STUPID to me because during this whole war, naruto is in KCM. And every storm game, naruto always gets a huge powerup so yea. Plus KCM naruto is on the cover and he has way too many moves to fit into just an awakening….

And I also wanted to say that this whole awakening thing sounded nice until they said that certain characters will not be able to awaken at any time. I know why they did it but I hope that this is just for the demo and not for the game. I understand that sasuke and sage naruto would just go susanno and 6 tails and pretty much tear shit up but isnt that what the drawbacks are for anyway? Plus I can definately see that they’re only going to do this for the overpowered characters like sasuke and sage naruto but what good is awakening whenever you want if you can only do it with the shitty characters? Plus, I would really love to like have an online match using KCM naruto and then find out that I’m versing someone like Madara and then the second the match starts, he goes perfect susanno and I go bijuu mode. AND WE WOULD BOTH TEAR SHIT UP!! lol. Then that would make it really awesome is if we have extremely destructible environments so mad buildings and shit are getting blown the f*ck up! ……………too bad this is CC2 lol
