Naruto Storm 3: CC2 Talks Jutsu Clashes, Multiple AwakeningsPosted on October 8, 2012 at 8:51 PM
A brand new interview with CyberConnect2 (CC2) President Hiroshi Matsuyama has been revealed via scans thanks to Saiyan Island’s very own Tokan! There are four pages worth of scans spread across 7 images, which were taken with a camera. Much of the interview is what we already know, but the two big topics CC2 talks about are jutsu clashes and multiple awakenings.
Matsuyama-san mentions that “jutsu clashing using the repetition of the O button can be seen in the free battles of Storm 1 is not available in this game, but the jutsu clashing using button inputs that can be seen in the single player boss battles of Storm 2 exist in this new installment.” If we at Saiyan Island have understood this correctly, it means there are no jutsu clashes in free battle or online in Storm 3, only in boss battles via quick time events.
As for multiple awakenings, Matsuyama-san says “there is only one awakening mode available per character. However, characters with more than one version, like Naruto or Sasuke, are not limited to this.” If we understood correctly, that means one character slots equates to one awakening. In other words, if Naruto has four character slots, like in Storm Generations, he will have four different awakenings. Of course, we could have understood incorrectly.
In case you are wondering about an open world, free-roam scenario like Storm 1, Matsuyama-san leaves the door open a bit, saying that CC2’s goal isn’t to focus on that kind of game, but instead to improve battles, drama, and have incredible anime visuals. He continues on to say the game will have an improved stage for adventures since Storm 2. Our understanding there is they will improve Storm 2’s story mode with a bit of hack and slash, but will not do what was done with Storm 1.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2’s fourth entry in the Storm series. It will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in Japan, North America, and Europe sometime Spring 2013. It will begin with the incident with the Nine Tailed Fox from 16 years ago, continue on to the Five Kage Arc, and go up to the Shinobi War, covering latest episode of Naruto Shippuden before the game’s release.
