I’d say Rinnegan Tobi is pretty much confirmed as playable. The cutscene used in-game graphics, and seeing as I doubt you’ll play him in a Hack N Slash portion (as I doubt the game will go as far as when he actually fights unless the anime speeds up) I’m pretty much certain of this.

Now the question still is which, if any, of the seven swordsmen will be playable and whether Zetsu will be as well, since the clones likely are just normal enemies in the Hack N Slash portions.

But CC2, if he’s another Masked Man… -_-

Ok we are in between a rock and a nutshell here people lets talk facts. We know the series has two years still (Manga), we know CyberConnect2′s president Hiroshi Matsuyama said that the story mode is going to be from nine tails attack at hidden leaf UNTILL five kages summit(So I Want To Know are they carrying us back to story modes from storm 1&2 but in a boss compact mode or what as he said in his interview it would be the most full compact story mode so..) then the ninja war. If they take the story mode from 1&2 together with bits of the war i am telling you that it would be short and not as much of a storm 3 but storm 2 &1/2 and generations game which would SUCK. As for the animated series providing the game is release in Feb or March We should get story mode up to “Uchiha Madara or Kurama” from the manga series. So lets hope for a 100+ PLAYABLE CHARACTERS, A DEMO BEFORE DECEMBER TO COOL OUR NERVES, AND A STORY MODE UP TILL UCHIHA MADARA JOINS OBITO ON THE BATTLEFIELD AGAINST KAKASHI,GUY AND NARUTO.

Why release the same 3 min trailer only to include those extra new 50 seconds? They’ve released shorter teasers before…
From an advertising and marketing point of view, those 50 seconds would’ve made a bigger impact as a stand-alone teaser, than as part of a re-hashed trailer with a twist.

I love the ending especially when it showed some of the reanimated characters in the shroud. I’m really excited to see that the Gold and Silver brothers are there too.

They’re probably still working on this. And the graphics should look better at this point, cause it isn’t so easy to edit a video in a dynamic way like that…they might be editing this since past month, together with the old Trailer…to release it just now.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who noticed that Tobi’s mask had the mark made by Kakashi’s kunai during their fight? It is the mark! And cc2 is known for having marks from the battles already on the characters, like kakuzu had a broken mask in storm 2 when he first debuted, which means they might be planning to at least go to the fight against Tobi!

nope it isn’t, first off the mark was horizontal not vertical, second the time when kakuzu was first debuted to the time he actually had his mask broken was really close unlike tobi. there is so so much fighting between this and the time he actually got the scratch on his mask. dont get me wrong i would love for what you said to be the case but it just doesn’t seem plausible. we cant allow ourselves to be caught in our own genjutsu now lol

i think this story might be like generations except it will be much different like
first u go thru minato/hiruzen story (kurama attack)
second is sasukes (kage arc)
third is naruto fighting kurama up to madara showing up
then we go to itachi/sasuke fighting kabuto (if they decide to add this part of the war)

cc2 would actually make us either an rpg or something close to it as long as enough fans request it but not alot of us put the inuput to request what we want ive been wanting a rpg naruto for the longest something like chronicles that came out for the ps2 also i wanted to see a damage sequence within in the game like damage to the clothes enviorment or even now that tobis face has been reveled being able to knock his mask off would be really cool i wish theyed also bring back justsu clashes and multiple ninjustsu like storm 1 i really hope this one has that hack and slash online that can be the first step forward to rpg for naruto and plus the online gets boring because of the repetitive waay people fight =/

So these calculations further my point. The anime only has to get as far as about ch.600 or not even that far to include every1 we want. So thats 13-16 chapters of leaway depending when the game comes out in march. So 4-5 episodes. Which is enough to have one filler a month from now on.

guys i just realized something if u look towards the naruto vs sasuke part f the trailer u will see where danzo suicides tht was most likely a cutscene or a secret factor im not sure what is called cuz it wouldnt make sense to have two back to back boss battles  i think the sasuke vs danzo fight might be a a hac n slash fight with one of thse cutscenes then it transitions in naruto kakashi and sakura appearing and then boss battle of naruto vs sasuke doesnt tht make sense?

Dude, Lars is not gonna be playable no matter what. He was a one time thing. Ichigo is 0%. Menma is unlikely. Also a little FYI to everyone about those guest characters, Lars was only in cuz Kishi worked on his character, all those random characters you want, no chance unless Kishi actually had something to do with them. 

Mmmmh personally, I think Danzo will be a boss battle, because there’s so much cool things in that fight and it wasn’t made very well in Generations. They need to make it right and epic this time !

I don’t know what to think about it. On one hand, you’re right with the timing. But… if there’s only a few part of the story remaining for the last Storm episode, I don’t think the whole game will be focused on it. Maybe they will gather all the characters from the beginning of the franchise, or something similar (adding forgotten ones, for example).

Many players don’t trust developers anymore, and that’s quite understandable : Activision, Ubisoft… are all dishonest and only think about taking our money. Their games are short and ridiculously expensive for the actual content. CyberConnect2 isn’t like that. Just take a look at their videos and interviews. They love Naruto, they have a huge passion for their work and try to listen to the fans as much as they can. But such as cinema or the TV series, there are restictions. Sometimes, because of the publisher, sometimes by time, money or other reasons. I think Generations started from a good intention, but wasn’t finished correctly. Missing characters, too many support-only, uninteresting story mode… It’s nice for those who play on Xbox360 and couldn’t play Storm 1, or for the fans who can’t wait for Storm 3, but it should’ve been less expensive for such an incomplete content.
So it’s really not a problem if there’s another Storm in ordrer to finish the story, if the content is huge and the gameplay improves, which would satisfy the majority in my opinion.

Yea I’m not to upset about the multiplayer since that wasn’t their original idea, so I can accept little differences in games. I guess you do understand why I don’t trust gaming developers. and I’ll admit that CC2 do care somewhat about the fans, or enough to seem nice. I Guess I’ll have to agree with you and your opinion if not fact lol, I just FEEL that they shouldn’t had lied or change their mind to us fans about storm 3 having the whole plot. storm 3 will obviously be a good game.

Well, this confirms that they all have some involvement! Sasori, Deidara, Kakuzu, Itachi, Nagato, Kin/Ginkaku, Asuma, Kitsuchi, Seven Swordsmen, Haku, four resurrected kages, Kabutomaru, and Tobi are all probably playable characters or in the very least support characters or enemies in story mode.

With the speed at which the anime is is trucking along and what’s been shown so far we still got a ways to go till the release. I agree kind sir! I think that CC2 are finally righting their wrongs with that horrid censorship and finally making it more gruesome. If u check at the beginning of the video where it shows sasuke faced up to the screen there’s a bloody scratch on his shoulder.

I know that they didn’t enter important fights but I still want them, I think Kimimaru, Chiyo, Hizashi & Dan Kato are more important than the others.

I have no doubt Chiyo and Kimimaro will be in the game. The others I’m not sure about however. 

You’re either a troll or you have no English reading skills. So I’ll break it down to a 3rd grade level:

1. Mostly same stuff, new packaging. Money, money, money is the reason. But you’ll learn more about money when you get older.

2. They fibbed about where the game will end. *waves finger* And that’s not a nice thing to do young man.

3. He wants what they promised. And you should always keep promises or the monster under the bed will eat you.

Generations added more content so far then Storm 3 has. Hack N Slash and a new special technique for awakenings, as well as awakening anytime, are the only new additions. A decently lengthed, boss battle and cutscene filled Story Mode have been done before, twice.

And Generations was far from balanced. The gameplay remains mostly unchanged, so expect those untimely guard breaks, substitution glitches and where you get hit even after substituting, and a few overly broken characters that make most others obsolete (like Masked Man).

The second half/ war arc reveal of the trailer is epic but I can’t help but notice a downgrade in the visuals campared to the first half. The faces aren’t as detailed, an the contrast and saturation of colors appears quite dull to me. Hopefully they are still working on the visuals for this section so it can have a grittier more darker look similiar to the kage summit portion of the trailer.

It could happen considering that both Naruto and DBZ games are published by Namco Bandai Games so it’s possible

I really like the STORM series. Having said that, I’m not really upset that CC2 decided to come up with a Storm 3 before the war ends.
I’m guessing that the Storm 3 will start at the Kage summit then end somewhere along the fight with Naruto against the Jinchurikis. We might even be lucky if it includes Naruto mastering the Biju-dama. That is a lot of content considering that the story mode includes hack and slash with big boss battles and that kind of graphics.

In Storm 1, it included the whole PTS story of Naruto because it was exclusive for PS3. While Storm 2 limited the story mode because they had to release it with xbox which has a smaller memory capacity than PS3.

I’m actually fine with that. The story not reaching Madara’s perfect Susano or revealing Tobi’s true identity. Or not including the end of the war.

It’s not that CC2 is milking us fans. It’s what they can do to give us a great game without limiting the quality. Having another Storm game where I can immerse myself with battles and amazing visuals is great. I’m fine if there is going to be a Storm 4 or heck even a storm 5.

I can’t really get it when people request a new gameplay, or complain that CC2 only do minor tweeks and that nothing has really change in the storm series. It’s a Storm game. It’s only natural that we get the same game with minor tweeks and a bits of improvement in your POV. That’s what I’m paying for. A Storm game. Not another franchise. CC2 have made lots of improvement in the storm series. Their style, approach and graphics have greatly improved. They even added a bonus of hack and slash in the story mode, considering that Storm is a fighting game. Not an RPG.  

I won’t be happy if I get a perfect storm game that includes the whole war this spring. Because maybe in 2015, the technology or software that was used in making it may be outdated. The possibility of having a Storm 4 gives me an opportunity to play another storm game in the future with updated graphics and new innovations but still retaining it’s storm spirit. Making a game that spans 4-5 years in not ideal. That means that the style, approach and software used was 5 years old. It’s not like in the 3 year mark they would go, “Oh a new tech came out. 3D! and new graphics innovation. What should we do with this 3 yr old in the making game? Let’s continue this and make another game with 3D next 5 years after we finish this one”. O.o Seriously?

Would you want to play storm 1 that includes PTS naruto and shippuden war? Yes it might be fun. But without the hack and slash, instant awakening, epic boss battles and epic cut scenes and graphics in storm 3? I don’t think so. I’m not saying that I want a Storm 20 or something like that. What I want is what CC2 is doing right now. 2-3 years worth of wait. A bonus game like generations. Rich improvement for a Storm game. And giving us fans what what we want. Reasonably.

Call me crazy, but given the history of Storm games I’d say just about everyone shown in this trailer is playable. They told us they were looking to incorporate more than the last Storm game (72 playable characters) and I’m certain we won’t get anywhere near that number if all those characters aren’t controllable. [assuming they aren't including pre-timeskip characters]

As for the trailer ; meh .. let’s be honest, nothing we didn’t already expect! However, it implies that the story will at least go up to the Jinchuriki fight =D which I’m definitely looking forward to ESPECIALLY if you have to fight all of them in their tailed beast state : FTW !

Everytime they say: “It’s the same thing as past games”…C’MON IT’S A SERIES, what do they want? A Naruto Theft Auto? A Naruto-Kart? When Storm 2 was released, the Kage Summit Arc was only starting, and you know that it isn’t possible to create these amazing graphics that Storm series have “fastly”…they probably had the game already planned, since they actually talk with Kishimoto and his colaborators; it’s not like they “wait” for an episode air to start working; it’s also very difficult to animate an episode, it takes a lot of time, so, for example, what we’re seeing now, was already being made weeks or even months ago. That’s why i think Storm 3′s “plot” is already decided, they’re working on the visuals now.

He wasn’t even near or matter of fact, he wasn’t even able to be in the fight against Kakashi and the others during that part of the war.

It seems as though you can’t understand.  SI already posted a link that said the game will have around 70 characters.  Just above 72, I believe.  I’m pretty sure everybody knows by now that there won’t be any pts characters. 

Listen, you have no idea where this game will end.  Neither do I.  Just because some people “calculated” where it’ll end doesn’t mean that they’re right.  One to two manga chapters don’t always coincide with an episode of the anime.  Sometimes its more, and sometimes its less.  This is all going along with the fact that there isn’t a major filler arc somewhere in the near future.  I agree with the fact that rinnegan tobi will be playable and with you’re assertion that most people who are angry about the lack of updates will still buy the game.  But most of your “facts” are just opinions that you hope for.

NO! Actually saiyan island posted a link that said that this game would have more than characters than generations which about 70 or 72 so please dont correct me. And second of all, i have an idea where the game will end. You said it yourself, some episodes have more than 2 or 3 manga chapters and some have less. MY point is that there are so many outside factors that it evens out. Like how some episodes have 1 or 2 chapters while others have 3 or 4. And sometimes we have filler while other times, we have specials with 2 or 3 episodes(mostly 2). You see what I mean? I’m not saying its fact. I’m saying it’s logical. Besides…we know one thing. Which is that the games ends at some point during the war. So the question is, which would leave the best cliff hanger? Bijuu mode? Ya right. The revival of uchiha madara? He comes in at chapter 560 and currently we’re somewhere in the 540s. It’s obvious that we’ll be way past that by spring so thats out of the question. Itachi vs Kabuto could work but I say that a better cliff hanger would with madara coming to tobi’s rescue or even defeating tobi and madara……if that is what ends up happening.

This doesn’t belong here that much, but it bothered me that fans of naruto forgot such a crucial fact. 
In the poll, most people voted for minato, which is understandable because he is like the most badass character in the series, but Kushina is an Uzumaki; You’d have a ridiculous amount of chakra that no other ninja possesses. The reason Naruto can do all he did is because he didn’t run out of chakra. I’m just saying gene-wise, the benefits would have a huge gap. haha that’s the end of my nerdrant.

I like your post, it’s well thought out and you make some some excellent points.

It’s just some of us fans do expect more on the gameplay side of things, as well as balance tweaking and updated characters. CC2 is by no means a bad company, in reality they are one of the better ones. But, for me personally, I haven’t seen enough change to where I’m satisfied with the end product.

Storm 2 added 42 completely new characters with almost nothing rehashed in their movesets. It added team ultimates, something that became intricate to winning a match. Yes, it took away a lot, but most of that stuff was gimmicks that affected gameplay very little. And most of all, it added online play which extended the life of the game indefinitely for many people.

The issue: Storm 2 was a balance wreck. So they tweaked a lot of things for Generations. Only problem was, they created as many problems as they fixed. Guard is far too weak, there is no guaranteed damage while a player has sub bars, substitution glitches and also you can get hit again after substituting because of the lack of invincibility frames, the chakra dash cancel glitches (mostly in the air), and certain characters were far more broken in comparison to the rest then storm 2 ever had (Masked Man mostly). 

I’m looking for fixes to these issues. Will they do it? Doesn’t seem like so based on demos. Is it easy? No. I don’t have all the answers. But that’s what my focus is on and that’s what is most important to me when it comes to Storm 3.

That’d be a very suspect glitch. To place that scratch right where it’d suppossed to be in the manga def gives something away. Perhaps, it might go all the way to Obito’s reveal.

Actually after double checking and realizing what they are doing in the anime.. The game will go to around 575. The anime is flooding with fillers every now and then. It will be set back. 590 is a wish. It will stop around 575 because that will have Madara, all the Edos all the jinchuriki, Sasuke’s EMS, Madara’s Moveset, pretty much everything and everybody. Just wont get to see Sasuke and Itachi fight. Itachi’s special won’t be Izanami :/ ahh well, still getting it!

Sorry it didnt let me reply to your previous comment so I’m going to have to reply to this one. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I expected fillers but not a whole filler arc……so you got me there… but then again, neither of us saw it coming. But without that filler arc, we would get an extra 12-18 chapters in. But I’d just like to remind that CC2 probably knew this was coming and for the record, the first thing you do when you make a video game is decide where the story starts and ends. So cc2 might say that we will have whatever the anime gets to but thats bullshit because lets say that we have an unexpected episode that they didn’t see coming and it comes out 2 weeks before the game, they can’t just add new content 2 weeks before the game is released. It should be FINISHED by then!! Kinda like the Konan vs Tobi thing….it came out before the game but it still wasn’t in there. So I’m telling that CC2 already has the story decided and there’s a reason why they’ve been working on this for 2.5 years. It’s cause they knew this story was gonna be big as shit and epic as hell. This game’s probably going to the largest story mode so far in the storm series NO DOUBT! They also said that this game was gonna be fair with anime and manga viewers. So I’m gonna take a gamble and say that this is going to go farther than the anime. Besides…I’m pretty that whenever that do filler, it’s just so that they can animate the more important episodes(like naruto on battlefield, bijuu mode, revelation of madara, etc.) better and have a few specials. I also believe that it’ll probably have 100 characters. Just be logical here. Every support in generations is gonna playable. Then we’re going to have the “important” people that Kabuto resurrected. That’s somewhere from 20-30. Then we’re going to have the “important” people from the allied shinobi forces. That’s somewhere from 10-25 (maybe more). Finally…additional versions of characters like new KCM naruto, EMS sasuke, goku naruto(maybe costume). That’s about 100 in my opinion but whatever…..

Actually, they’ve honestly confirmed that the support will playable awhile ago in an interview i believe. There’s also this glitch in generations where you can play as the support character but you can only move, jump, and do your jutsu. But the thing is that each support has their own unique items like very character does so this leads to believe that they will be playable. Look it up, there’s videos.
