CC2 Talks Disconnects, Considerations for Naruto Storm 3

From the 2012 Paris Games Week comes a new interview with CyberConnect2 (CC2) CEO and President, Hiroshi Matsuyama thanks to Saiyan Island fan IchikaruTV! Matsuyama-san mentions there won’t be any characters outside the Naruto manga. That means anime filler characters and special guest characters will not be in Naruto Storm 3. He does mention there will be new elements that will enhance online for more replay value, but says more will be revealed in the future.

Additionally, Matsuyama-san mentions CC2 has considered having a create your character feature and may add it in if demand for it gets stronger. They’ve also considered adding in a tag team system like Tekken Tag Tournament, but they reason they haven’t done it is because it limits the moves a player can do. Saiyan Island guesses because of the limited amount of buttons on a controller).

Lastly, Matsuyama-san was asked if there will be any penalties for disconnections, but he says it is difficult to determine if a player rage quits or truly loses their connection. CC2 may implement the ability to give at least a victory to the player that stays and a loss to the person that disconnects.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is Namco Bandai Games and CyberConnect2′s fourth entry in the Storm series. It will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 in Japan, North America, and Europe sometime Spring 2013. It will begin with the incident with the Nine Tailed Fox from 16 years ago, continue on to the Five Kage Arc, and go up to the Shinobi War, covering latest episode of Naruto Shippuden before the game’s release.

I believe if they’re going to do a create-a-character they should work on it from the beginning – not have it be a tacked on, last minute thing (granted, we don’t know how far in development still this is, but if they haven’t started work now, it seems like it would be rushed).

Plus if they have it in from the start, they could build an additional mode around it, like what was it…? Hero Mode or whatever in DBZ Ultimate Blast. Y’know, sort of a mini-story mode for your character.

like in one piece pirate warriors, the “select” button could be used for the character your playing as does either a pose or puts on an item (zoro would put on his bandana on or franky doing his “SSUUUUPPEEEERRR!!! pose) like this, they should use it to switch with your partner. Also, they should put this in a single match category, that way it would be easier and more space. Again, this is just an idea that i thought of so feel free to give your opinion and even share thoughts, maybe we could come up with something better.

Tag Team doesn’t have to take up more bottons. They could just have you press triangle (Ps3 Controller) and then the support bottons then they would switch out.

And about the making your own character. I never even thought they’d consider it, but since they are. YES.

For the record, most of the suggestions for the game would be more detrimental than helpful. A 2 on 2 match where all characters are fighting at once would require a complete recreation of the fighting system. A character creation system would be cool for a decent chunk of fans, but that would end up getting more attention than making the game polished, especially since they’d only have like 2 months to do it. At this point all major suggestions probably won’t be honored due to major time constraints.

A disconnection should count as a loss, even if it wasn’t. Man, I remember playing Raging blast, and every time I would beat one of the “higher ups,” they always quit right after the match. It’s irritating and time-wasting. This problem should be fixed even if a player is disconnected from a match on accident.

1.- co-op mode for adventure and for battles (maybe tag team for battles)
2.- i dont care about jutsu clashers, but they do look cool

Many wise choices in there, except for the “create your character” feature. It wouldn’t be really interesting IMO. But anyway, I’m glad there aren’t any guest character (they should focus on the main story and the roster), and about the disconnections penalties. At least give the victory for the one who stays and a loss for the one who quits should’ve been included in Generations already.

For what you said about the triangle and support, that would be flawwed. It would completely screw you over if you were loading chakra for a jutsu and decide to call out a support at the same time to get an awsome combo. It would be better if they used Hamlet’s Idea with the select button (PS3) and whatever the Xbox equivalent of it is would be perfect. It would also make a possibility for a 3-man cell formation as well (although that is pretty much 99.9% out of the question).

Careful with your wording SI , it is possible that people may mis-interpret what this interview actually says! For the record, no, they aren’t telling us anything we don’t already know about the game at this point. The “considerations” for create-a-character, tag team, and jutsu clashing are for FUTURE Naruto games.

As previously stated by many people on this site, they’re not going to make any drastic improvements at this point, if it hasn’t been mentioned by now than it’s probably not in the game.
If you need something to look foward to than it’s in the innovations to the traditional storm battle system.

Create a character would most probably be crappy.. I can’t see it looking any good in these kinds of games. As for the tag team, I think that I rather play as a single character, because I don’t really want to have less moves. It would get tiresome just watching the same moves over and over.

Damn it CC2, give RQ’s a loss and the player who stays a win. It’s customary at this point, and there is a way to determine forced disconnects as opposed to accidental ones. Many games have already implemented this feature that tells them apart, including the crappy DBZ: Ultimate Tenkaichi.

Check out the suggestions in the forum area for storm 3. Somebody had a idea about pressing and holding the support buttons. Press for them to come in for a few seconds to do whatever they want(combo, regular jutsu or even an UJ or hold the support button to bring in the character to fight. This isn’t my idea its somebody’s else and I thought it was Google for team online battles 3 on 3

I’d love to have as a feature one VS 2 (2 real players) that’d be a nice touch. Or 1 vs A team, as that hasn’t been one. I really don’t like playing with a team, I’d rather be a single ninja, where as the people i play with love to play as teams… so that’d be a nice feature they could add.

Most likely. What I’m hoping for though is the basic Naruto characters (well not basic) and then if they’re a wind element character you can choose form a wide range of wind element jutsu’s and ultimate jutsus. It’d be like a mix and match kind of thing which would be rather interesting to see. – But that’s what I’d expect from a create a character in this type of game, instead of actually a model of a character instead.

If they have a character creation as detailed as Soul Calibur, that would be badass. I hope for at least the opportunity to make ten characters. The three-character limit in DBZ sucked, but the 50 characters in Soul Calibur would be a little overwhelming. 10 is perfect as I’d be able to make my OC’s and then a couple “Naruto-fied” non-Naruto characters

Trust me i know alot about CC2′s motives there is a chance Naruto might have a War Arc separate character and that seems to be KCM as one character the awakening might be BM Naruto,Madara has a very high chance of entering the game because everyone asks for him and this is his arc,where did i learn this well i know CC2′s motives about the game and if you put the pieces together you will notice their plan for Storm 3 i hope this answers your questions

WHAT? 4 Months = about 2 months of ACTUAL game design and programming, games are finished months before release normally. 2 months is NOT enough to implement such a complex feature.

First they’d have to get all of our comments, or enough to say “hey, we should do this.” Then, they have to plan it out: come up with different customization techniques and items before they can even get to the programming. Then, they have to design the damn things.

Then, finally, they can program. And you know what programming is? A bunch of 1′s and 0′s our minds couldn’t even begin to comprehend. That takes SERIOUS time.

How you can be so naive to think it’s even possible to include it in Storm 3 is beyond what I can comprehend, and frankly, beyond stupid.

Character creation is stupid for these types of games, anime games. Because most of what they come up with for a mode like that is very limited and never diverse enough. Those types of modes usually only work well with sports games, or just games that aren’t based on an anime in general.

I was always satisfied with being able to play as my favorite characters from the anime. Why can’t that be enough for everyone else? Cause usually what happens is fans ask for stuff like that, and then become pissed off when the developers interpret their ideas differently then they imagined it.

Usually because the “idea” wasn’t very well thought out or because it was stupid in general.

I know why you in-particular hate the idea. You’re a very good player, I’ve seen you online, but your playstyle revolves around a lot of movement and sporadicism. You seem afraid you’ll get trapped at the edge by accident and lose because of it.

I like it too, but it certainly isn’t realistic like in the manga. Ring outs never occurred in Naruto.

But yeah, hating on something before they try it. I was livid about the new substitution system, specifically being able to substitute at almost any time. It made spammers that much more annoying because punishing them became difficult. But i gave it a chance first before ultimately deciding I didn’t like it.

Characters like Nagato must obviously be in the game but something keeps on telling me that it wont be that simple. Like they may do something like you can only be complete Nagato as awakening and you have to play as that decrepit old form. I’m looking forward to ring out though it adds more to the game and allows you to interact more with the scenery.

I’ma buy the shit and still not like the feautre. They can have a Ring out feature but it shouldnt be on Ranking matches. I mean just as long as not ALL stages are ‘ring out’ stages then I’m fine, because I create sessions majority of the time anyway and I can choose the appropiate stage.

Don’t try to act like in a Ring Out stage you wouldnt be focused on soley knocking them out of stage smh.

Why not? Official Martial Arts tournaments have ring outs. Those are “ranked” obviously as far as your reputation and how good you are. It’s not like there aren’t real life examples of this, and if they can deal in real life within a small space (you ever see how small the fighting area is in one of those?) then you can do it within a large space inside a video game, especially since in the game you have substitutes and supports.

Ring Out? Why should there be ring out? This isn’t a Martial Arts Tournament. Unless they mean you can knock a player into another stage like in Ultimate Ninja 2.

I really think they should be 1 person like Pain. Ginkaku (I think he’s the 1 who awakened) being the host. They were always together and worked off each other’s abilities so it just makes sense to me that it be that way. Just like it makes sense that TenTen awakens with the fan, Kakashi with the Executioner’s Blade, and Chouji Butterfly. All of this was shown.

Create-a-Ninja is something that I think Ultimate Ninja Storm players have wanted. Only under the condition that we can truly make ANY kind of ninja we want. This includes skin color, clothing, hair, facial hair, fighting styles, ultimates, jutsu, etc.
