First Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission Trailer, Second Scan

Namco Bandai Games Japan has today released the first trailer and V-Jump has released the second scan for Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission!

The 3DS card battle game, will be a port of the 2010 Dragon Ball Heroes at Japanese arcades with additional features, including exclusive in-game animation and a new story mode that covers the Saiyan Saga of Dragon Ball Z all the way up Dragon Ball GT! In Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission, players assemble a deck of five cards, executing their battle strategy on the the bottom 3DS screen as the battle takes place on the top screen. The game will feature over 100 characters spanning more than 800 digital cards from the Dragon Ball Heroes Series 1 to Galaxy Mission 4. Players will be able to take on friends wirelessly and if you check out the first Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission trailer below, you may see a little teaser tie-in with the 2013 DBZ movie, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission is scheduled to hit Japanese retailers on February 28, 2013 for 5800 yen (around $70 USD). The first batch of games released will also come with a physical bonus card set for use at the arcade version of Dragon Ball Heroes, a hero avatar card, 100-save trial hero license card for the arcade version of the game, and first look at the Future Gohan and Future Trunks cards. There is no word on a North American or European release at this time.

    Possibly, I read somewhere that license to produce dbz expires at the end of 2014,
    - edit; I’m wrong it doesn’t effect the games, only the manga, dvd’s and B-rays will stop

    That’s because it’s made by the same company that made both the Budokai Tenkaichi and Raging Blast series, Spike. This game has been out since before Ultimate Tenkaichi so if they decided to make a console version of it, who knows how many more characters will be on the game.

    I can’t stand how closed-minded people are on this website. Just because this game is a handheld doesn’t automatically mean that it sucks. Watch some gameplay videos before you judge this game dude. I actually think that this game is a great game because it has more characters than any DBZ game in history and it’s based on the budokai 3 engine. Other than the RPG element, Dragon Ball Heroes will be DBZ Budokai 3 with ALOT more characters, giant boss battles, and a new story mode. What is there NOT to like about this game?

    This game looks so sweet. It’s a card battle system, but that’s actually a huge plus for me as it should be a much different experience. And come on, Did you see all those characters? Directly playable or not, being able to use them and see so many new faces with in-game animations from the original Budokai series is spectacular.

    I also want to see that opening movie for the game. It looks to be beyond badass.

    A. Don’t have a 3DS or don’t like handhelds so they are upset.

    B. Hate change, innovation, or trying something new.

    C. Don’t like strategy card battle games. I happen to love them (played Yu-Gi-Oh for a long time before I quit, both in real life and on the DS as well as some other random games).

    lol, funneist thing happend in Budokai 3 HD when I was playing against my cousin Ali yesterday, I was using King Piccolo costume and he was using Teen Gohan he went to ssj2 and I went close to him and used Destructive wave and it missed and kept spamming it, it went above his head used it twice again it went above his head again, ROFLMFAO, I can see why people always use short characters to win in the tournament O_O

    If the game comes, with no release date for the U.S., and through youtube videos i can’t resist… I may end up purchasing a Japanese 3DS… I hate myself for saying this, but the game looks to have 10′s of hours of gameplay with so many characters they can pretty much go through everything in the DBZ story mode, then it also has online? There could be over 100 hours depending upon how competitive it is. It just almost seems so worth it.

    Might take a while to save up. But I’m really psyched about this game for some reason. I’m a strategist at heart, like Shikamaru, so I can’t resist something so strategy oriented that incorporates so many of my favorite characters. *I hate myself*

    Not GAMES nimrod, CONSOLE games, as in anything not a handheld or arcade. It’s the same concept with the NUNS series. Ubisoft gave up their  exclusive rights to make Naruto games for the 360, so CC2 decided to make Storm a multiplatform game by picking it up. 

    Spike has (or had, supposedly UT was supposed to be the last though then came Kinect) EXCLUSIVE rights to DBZ console games. Where the hell have you been the last few years?

    Dimps gave up their rights and Namco Bandai simply passed them on to Spike. Now if Namco chooses and Dimps accepts, they can take it back. But at the moment they are making more money co-working on SF games.

    1. Gameplay is more important than character roster. Saying a game has a lot of characters conveys absolutely nothing about the game itself. 
    2. This game uses Budokai 3′s 8 year old character models, it DOES NOT play anything like Budokai 3.I don’t think this game is “crappy” because it’s a handheld, I said it’s crappy because it’s throwaway; irrelevant, of little to no concern, here today and gone tomorrow. This game isn’t a 3DS standout, it’s not going to earn critical acclaim, no one in the gaming community is going to play this and say, “This is the greatest 3DS game I’ve ever seen.” So yes, I call this game “crappy” (something I have no interest in and no emotion towards whatsoever).

    You use the cards to unlock characters, choose where you want to place your characters, attack, block, and counter. For super specials and ultimates, just like Budokai 3 you have to fill up a meter and it must fill up higher than your opponent’s meter for it to be successful with the push of a button next to the touch screen where you place your cards. All of this is from the arcade version though, in the 3DS version instead of using cards you will be using your 3DS stylus since all of the card characters will be on the game already.

    Gameplay is everything. So what exactly is wrong with the gameplay? Have you seen it? 

    It’s not a fighting game, it’s a card battle strategy game, so to judge it based on your presumptions on what a DBZ game SHOULD be is ignorant. It should be judged based on it’s individual genre, not it’s subject matter. And from what I gather (actually having done… you know… research) the game is decently deep and incorporates exactly what you’d expect out of a game like this, and is much flashier to boot.

    I.e., for the genre it represents, it is a deep and well crafted game. It has existed in Japan in arcade form since 2005 with regular updates. When you have 7 years of constant updates (the equivalent of 7 years of new DLC) you tend to perfect it my friend.

    Now they are taking everything they’ve done and putting it onto a handheld. And if you took the time to look up what exactly that is, you’d be surprised to find out how much content is in this game, more then enough for over 100 hours of gameplay between unlocking characters, cards, story mode, and online play. 

    The fact that you use graphics as an excuse makes me just feel sorry for you. Such a shallow mindset for someone who claims to value “gameplay.” Hypocrisy also comes to mind.

    You don’t like strategy games, fine. But bashing it as having poor gameplay because it’s not your cup of tea, or because it’s a DBZ game that isn’t a fighting game, is not only ignorant… well actually it is only ignorant. Very, VERY, ignorant.

    @uchihalord1994:disqus It has good gameplay, it’s been out since 2005 in Japanese arcades and so you can easily assess it. It’s a strategy game. That is just your opinion because you don’t enjoy strategy games. But some people do, and they can be very deep and engaging (mostly of the mind).

    @Marco Yeah, I’m pissed. I don’t want to get excited over a game I have very little chance of ever playing (idiotic region lock, first time Nintendo has done this too) but… hey what you can do?
