Naruto Returns to Toonami on December 1st

The number one hyperactive knucklehead ninja returns to American TV! VP of Strategic Marketing & Promotions for Cartoon Network, Jason DeMarco, has announced Naruto will make a come back to Toonami on Saturday, December 1st! This time it’s at 12:30 AM EST (after midnight, so technically December 2nd) and uncut! The show will start from episode one of Naruto part 1. Check out the video promo below!

Naruto originally aired on Toonami from 2005 until 2008, when Toonami was cancelled. No plans for Naruto Shippuden at this time, as DeMarco mentions Disney still owns the rights.

Here is the Toonami schedule beginning next Saturday, December 1st. All times Eastern and Pacific.

12:30 – Naruto
1 – Tenchi Muyo GXP
1:30 – Thundercats
2 – Samurai 7
2:30 – Symbionic Titan
3 – Eureka 7
3:30 – Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
4 – Cowboy Bebop
4:30 – Cowboy Bebop
5 – Inuyasha
5:30 – Inuyasha

    I don’t know how I should feel about this.  On one hand, I’m all for a dose of nostalgia.  On the other hand, I’d rather see shippuden. This makes me doubt that toonami can even air shippuden due to the rights being licensed to disney XD.  Hmmmm…

    Toonami got me into Naruto and all but lets be honest here…. We can watch any naruto episode we want UNCUT COMMERCIAL FREE on the internet instead of watching a specific naruto episode with commercial at freaking 12:30 midnight. I don’t really see the big deal about this anymore… But it might get a few people into it again I guess..

    Hulu Plus, Crunchyroll, IOS devices, Naruto DVD’s, and many more, you can use all of these through TV streaming and I’m not gonna turn on my TV at 12:30 midnight to support toonami ratings for episodes with commercials that I’ve already seen. I just feel like Toonami died for me back in 2008 cause that’s when I moved to the internet to watch anime. I understand where you’re coming from but seriously? Well on the bright side hopefully it will get new people into anime.

    Hopefully this will bring back the views on toonami that it so desperately needs, however, I’m also unsure how it’ll work out considering the naruto fanbase that still cares about the dub has dropped exponentially in the past few years. Only time will tell if this strategy will work. I have the dvds and i’m curious to see how the upscaled tv version looks.

    This is great now all they need is one piece to get ready of symbionic titan (which shouldn’t be on toonami in the first place)…. and I think toonami was tired of air short animes and having to find new ones with naruto there they won’t have another time slot to be worrying about for a while

    uncut? I’m guessing they meant ‘U.S uncut’ version, cause I saw few scenes in this clip that censored, not that it’s a big deal, at least now when sasuke’s parent’s die, it’ll show red blood instead of green.. that was plain stupid.

    This is so awesome! Finally an uncensored naruto for tv! Lol it says “TV-14″, might be a better version with better dialouge like from the uncut dubbed version most likely.

    I’ve been saying they need to bring it back since Toonami started back and now I guess since they realize that they do have the support it’s back! Man this is an early Christmas present for me,now they need One Piece. To be honest there are a couple of shows from this list that could be replaced. Seriously,Naruto + One Piece, I gurantee there would be a dramatic increase of views every night. Oh and when they say “Uncut” I hope they mean it because it makes no since for it to be edited when it’s on Toonami let alone adult swim hours.

    Someone please tell me why this DeMarco guy still has the rights to shippuden. If he’s just waiting for the right moment to air it again he is sadly mistaken. 3 of the main reasons why it failed the first time was, 1. it was on Disney, 2. it wasn’t uncut, and 3. it was severely edited for younger viewers. He just needs to accept the fact the shippuden will never make profit on Disney and should just sell the rights to a company who can at least air the show properly.

    dont forget that there are actually man time naruto and friends curse in the uncut version. when i first started watching naruto uncut i was shocked. it sounds so much more dramatic with profanity. i dont know about the censorship this you are talking about though. as from what ive seen the uncut dub version i have is the same as the jap sub version. unless they made two different kinds of uncut in which case i have the original japanese production dubbed.

    The DeMarco guy is from Cartoon Network. He said Disney owns the rights which is why Cartoon Network and Toonami can’t air it. i dunno why Disney is holding on to the rights, probably just to be spiteful to Toonami.

    I wish they would add shippuden, because its slightly more mature.. so what if disney owns it, it got cancelled didn’t it? It stupid to even put shippuden on a lame kids channel anyways… It needs to be on toonami where it belongs. A re-dub would be good because of the censorship of curse words disney removed from most of the shippuden episodes >_>

    They did have to change some things to keep it childish. About 50% of the dialouge was uncut… If you see the japanese subtitled version you’ll see what I mean.

    for the simple fact its uncut..im TOTALLY ok with this. been so long snice ive seen part 1, and reading and watching shippuden every week. this is a good chance to see things i might have forgotten. and not have to sit in front of a freakin computer to do so. and haha for them making fun of that horrid catch f raise .maybe by some miracle that could of been edited out

    Definitely.  Although all good shows, I don’t believe thundercats or symbionic titan should be on Toonami.  That being said, I also believe cowboy bepop has run its course.  The reairing of fma brotherhood at like 3 isn’t necessary either after the original run has already been seen two times throughout.  There are a lot of spots where shows like OP or something else could take its place.

    Ahh finaly i like both Sub AND Dub.Watching Dub isint THAT bad.Im telling you in drama parts looks epic.What im trying to say is MAYBE dub and sub, sub is better, BUT dub isint that bad trust me.Just dont get that felling like ohh like comparing wich better,i say you watch and enjoy.

    Yea Thundercats was already being showed during regular CN hours. Cowboy Bebop as much as I love it has definitely ran it’s course. Fma Brotherhood, another one I love but really how many times they plan to play these shows lol
