60 Character Wishlist for Project Versus J

In order to celebrate 45 years of Shonen Jump, Namco Bandai is working a brand new anime crossover game tentatively titled Project Versus J for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Vita! Currently, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Toriko are confirmed series to be in the game, with Naruto suspected to join the fray. Shonen Jump will soon be taking requests as to what characters fans would like in the game.

Saiyan Island has created a list of 60 characters we’d love to see in the game. We don’t have much knowledge on Toriko, so characters from the that series are not included in our list. We do have extensive knowledge on Dragon Ball Z and One Piece so they are included in addition to Shonen Jump’s Bleach and Naruto.

Saiyan Island has selected 15 characters from each of the 4 series (for 60 total). Trust us when we say the choices were hard, real hard. For Naruto alone, there are 100 characters that come to mind right away. However, we’ve narrowed down our wishlist to a combination of characters that 1) must be in the game to represent the series properly OR 2) our hearts just oh so much desire!

In our list, we’ve included only the character name and an example picture. Of course Saiyan Island wants all forms and transformations. For example, for Gohan we’d like to see Super Saiyan, Mystic Gohan, Teen Gohan, etc. Or for Naruto, Tailed Beast Chakra Mode and Six Tailed Fox Transformation, amongst others.

With just the sheer amount of characters in each series, we’re quite certain your opinions will differ. It’s unlikely the game will even include 15 characters a series if the developers decide to include characters from other anime/manga.

Whatever the final game ends up containing, let it be known these are the 60 character we’d love to see! This is Saiyan Island’s 60 character wishlist for Project Versus J!

Remember, this is just Saiyan Island’s 60 character WISHLIST for Project Versus J. At this time, only, Goku, Luffy, and Toriko are confirmed playable characters.

    I think we won’t get more than 5-10 characters per series. That’s what’s happened with Jump Ultimate Stars. I think for Naruto it was just Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. Hopefully they can include all of these, thatwould be a miracle!

    All the bleach characters on this list should be in it, all the DBZ characters should be in it (except for yamcha and krillin), all the naruto characters on this list should be in it, all the OP characters on this list should be in it (except for usopp, he’s an epic fail). Good list overall though.

    I know this isn’t the offical list, it’d be amazing if it was.

    I’d love to see Hunter X Hunter characters, along with Ao no Exorcist characters, D-grayman characters, and many other Shonen Jump Advanced characters.I’m sure having Advanced characters in there could make some of their other stuff sell a bit more – instead of just the big brand names.

    Some of these are just stupid. Don’t expect Hinata,Minato,Killer Bee,Orochimaru,Shikamaru,Android 18,Yamcha,Tien,Broly,Jinbei,Hancock,Mihawk,Kid,Trafalgar,Rukia,Urahara,Yoruichi,Shinji and Grimmjow to be in the game. Others are plausibble though I don’t there will be more than 5 characters of each anime in the game. Take 4 main characters with different movesets from each anime and one or two powerful villain to spice up the story.

    None of these are from Shonen Jump. The journals they are published on are owned by shueisha(parent company of jump) so let’s hope for dlc or if we are really lucky – unlockable content ,but even then something more than Rin and Inuyasha is unlikely.

    While I’m aware this is a wishlist, it’s incredibly biased and impractical. You have fifteen characters each from only four franchises. It would make way more sense if you were asking for maybe, I dunno, five characters a series (of course, assuming you’ll wish for more than DB/OP/N/B characters). No YuYu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, HunterxHunter, Hokuto No Ken, etc?

    Um… replace stupid kid trunk with future trunks ( sword ) that way I can have him fight sasuke and zoro in a 3 way swordsmen clash, that was be epic. then kick off shikamaru and replace him with gai sensei, that way we can see the ultimate taijutsu between gai and sanji. next kick off jenbi and replace him with crocodile so we can have gaara’s sand vs crocodiles sand. and lastly remove kid and put up white beard, seriously how can you NOT put someone as beast as that?

    Are these the only Shonen Manga/Anime they read/watch? For one, there will probably only be 2-5 representatives  from each Shonen Title, so I am only hoping for characters such as Naruto and Sasuke, Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta, Ichigo and Rukia, (Strawhats would be tough to limit, but if it were down to three it would definitely be Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji). If you look at any other mash-up fighter, there are always only a few representatives, and you aren’t even covering any of the other titles that will be covered in this game(Such as Gintama, Toriko and Medaka Box).

    If it were up to me I’d include 6 characters each from the 5 big series which are DBZ, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and Toriko. Then I’d have 1-2 characters from a variety of series.

    For example Yusuke and Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho. Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin, Gon from Hunter X Hunter and Gintama from Gintama.

    I really hope it has a proper story mode.

    I understand that this is a site dedicated entirely to Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and Dragonball Z, but I have to admit, I’m not too fond of this list.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy all four of these series, but it would have been nice for you guys to have ventured outside of your comfort zones and list characters from other Jump series; after all, it was practically confirmed that there will a variety of Jump series being added to this game. But I digress.  I only come here for the “Big 3 + DBZ” gaming news. Nothing more, nothing less.  All my other anime needs are met elsewhere.

    If Gohan gets in as a db rep, I think it should be him as an adult or ultimate form instead of his teen self like super and ult. stars. As for any other series I just hope Tsuna and Hibari or Enma from katekyo hitman reborn! gets in. Also if a yugioh character is in I think it would be cool to see Judai..er Jaden this time around.

    if you look at jump ultimate stars on ds, there was 6 reps from one piece (as well as heaps of non playable supports) and 5 from DBZ, 3 from Naruto and Bleach. and there was 60 playable characters, so in this game there will be so many series that most of us probably don’t even know about, and if its for 45 years of jump, expect Kenshiro and Raoh from Hokuto no Ken, those guys are super strong, capable of beating anyone easy!

    though chances are one piece will have more people than any other series due to the fact its 5 times more popular than evereything else

    Correction, there were only 2 non playable supports for One Piece,  7 playable DBZ characters, 4 Naruto and Bleach, and 54 playable characters total (92 if you count all the different levels). Playing so much, made me remember that by heart.

    Lol i like how Saiyanisland has no othere knowledge about any other shonen series apart from these 4, you guys should really try some other titles.

    Additions to the list: Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star, Yusuke Urameshi from Yu Yu Hakusho, HIMURA KENSHIN from Rurouni Kenshin, Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist,  and Allen Walker from D.Gray-man, to name a few. And if Keshin is in the game, I think future Trunks should appear as well for a bad-ass sword fight. I really like the idea of having Bills from the new DBZ movie in the game, good to help promote each other. Also a good villain from Dragon Ball could be Omega Shenron from GT, though a lot of people wouldn’t like it, but he was the Ultimate villain of the whole series. A LOL character could be Kuroko from Kuroko’s basketball, and he could throw and punch basketballs, lol, at least as a supporting character of some kind.

    I know that some people disagree with having anime elements when this is game about the manga, but people would prefer the anime elements, especially since in some manga, the characters look different in the anime. Also having anime only characters not appear would make some properties seem not as good. This is a celebration of the properties that went along with Jump. Unless you want the whole game to be in black and white to stay extremely faithful to the manga. And I know that some of the properties I mentioned are from Jump Square but it is an important part of Jump’s history and its most popular manga deserve some representation in the game, if only to make the game better.

    5 main characters from the “big” series.
    5 bad guys from the “big” series.
    (These being, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Toriko and DBZ).

    3 main characters from other series.
    2 or 3 bad guys from other series. 
    (Other being, D.Gray-man, Yu yu Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter, Ao No Exorcist, etc.).

    Here’s my opinion though there are good choices too but they should add in some old anime characters that were in the shonen jump too now dragonball z, Bleach, One Piece & Naruto ain’t the only anime out there now. There were some animes out there before they came along. they should have put in yu yu hakusho and beelzebub. They were in shonen jump. here is my character list for what they should add in the Project Versus J Video Game and some of you guys can agree with me.

    You guys act like they are going to put in 15 characters from each shonen jump. Most likely 4 Naruto characters(Team 7), Dragonball z (Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, etc.). Ultimate only had a few from each jump but had several jump series.

    i think this game should really be like jump ultimate stars…i think it should have a lot of shonen jump animes..with characters ranging to at least 6 of 7…bcuz on jump ultimate stars it had a total of 7 characters. (8 if you count vegito)
    so i think each anime, such as:
    naruto
    dbz
    yu yu hakusho
    kenshin
    black cat
    d.gray-man
    bleach
    one piece
    bobobo
    buso renkin
    gintama
    etc…
    each series should have at least 6 to 7 PLAYABLE characters
    now as far as the series i listed off goes…for dbz and dgm…as long as teen gohan (the one who beat cell and bojack) and lenalee lee are confirmed playable…its an automatic buy for me!
    teen gohan and lenalee are special to me!
    i have them fight together all the time on jump ultimate stars! = )

    Both of these series are NOT published in Jump. FT is from WSM and Fullmetal Alchemist is from Shonen Gangan.

    Shonen Jump Advanced is the American version of the Jump comics. Jump comics, instead, are from Japan. Note that both (Shonen Jump and Jump Square) are from the same editorial, but each one have a symbol next to the “Jump Comics” label to note which magazine they are from.

    I agree. But in their defense they did say that they didn’t have any real knowledge on Toriko and the same can be said about other series. But that still doesn’t really make it ok to straight up ignore all of the possiblities. JoJo, Hunter X Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho, Reborn, Samurai X, Black Cat, D. Gray-man, (even Ao No Exorcist but thats a bit of a stretch) just to name a few. The possibilities are great and 60 characters on a wishlist could have so much more. But only DB, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach make the cut. Its a good list if it was a One Piece, DB, Bleach, Naruto crossover game but its not. For a Shonen Jump 45 year anniversary game this list is terrible.

    How i see it the safest bet on how the roster will be built will be 3-5 protagonists + 2-4 antagonists x numberof series. So Naruto will most likely consist of Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Pain, and maybe Tobi. One piece would be tough in this sense as the core group is 9 heroes but even then u can just include the ones that fight the most often, so Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Chopper, then antagonists Crocodile, Rob Lucci, and/or Enel. Toriko is easy as the core group is 4 dudes so Toriko, Coco, Sani, Zebura, and maybe Komatsu, then for villains its harder since most of the show is basically monster hunter but in the anime there are GT robo, Tommyrod, and Nitro. I’m not as versed in Bleach so I’ll leave that series to you guys.

    I really didn’t understand why they didn’t consider putting Yammamoto from Bleach in the wishlist. He’s like the most overpowered character out there. And it’ll be awesome. And I also wanna see characters from Gintama, Beelzebub, Nurarihyon no Mago, etc. The list just goes on. So I don’t think they should just focus on the main four anime mentioned above. At least introduce the other awesome anime.
