It’s One Piece madness in Japan! There is a host of One Piece Film Z tie-in content airing in animated form. The first is the One Piece Episode of Luffy: The Hand Island Adventure special, which airs on December 15th, the same day as One Piece Film Z.
The second is in the form of the anime itself, which is featuring a four episode fill arc related to One Piece Film Z. This past Saturday, the first episode in the filler arc aired and can be watched on the official One Piece streaming website, onepieceofficial.com. Below is the preview to the next episode in the arc, One Piece 576: “Z’s Ambition Arc: The Mysterious Strongest Army Corps Appears”.
Thirdly, Japan’s NOTTV broadcast service for smart phones began airing a special One Piece series known as Glorious Island this past Sunday, December 2nd. This special series is an exclusive anime prologue to One Piece Film Z with an original story by manga creator Eiichiro Oda. There are be a total of six episodes planned, with one airing each Sunday until January 6th, 2013. Again, this is a Japanese mobile devices exclusive. No word on a DVD or online release for this at this time.
And then of course there is the movie itself. Check out the fifth official commercial for One Piece Film Z (which contains footage from One Piece Episode of Luffy as well) along with a new 7-11 commercial! You can check out past commercials here.
One Piece Film Z is the 12th movie in the One Piece series. It will be released in Japanese theaters on December 15, 2012. The movie will be the first to take place in the New World, pitting the Straw Hat Pirates against their strongest enemy yet – a man named Z. Drawings and commentary by Oda-sensei indicate he is a human with cyborg enhancements and unreal power. One Piece Film Z is being marketed as a movie that will “surpass Strong World” and contain a “heroic battle” between Luffy and Z.
