Naruto’s Week 1 Ratings on Toonami

The prodigal son has returned! After a four year hiatus, Naruto made his 2012 Toonami debut in the United States on December 2nd! How did it do in week 1? It was the second most watched show on Toonami for the night, with only Bleach having more viewers.

Below are the ratings (to be more accurate, it’s viewership) for Toonami’s December 2nd showing. The time listed is the time the show aired in the Eastern and Pacific timezones. It’s worth noting that in their marketing, Toonami mentions Naruto airs on Saturday night (December 1st in this case), but in actuality the air day is Sunday (December 2nd in this case). As you already may know, the new calendar day begins at 12:00 AM (midnight).

Bleach – 1,130,000 viewers (12:00 AM)
Naruto – 925,000 viewers (12:30 AM)
Thundercats – 706,000 viewers(1:30 AM)
Sym-Bionic Titan – 706,000 viewers (2:30 AM)
Samurai 7 – 703,000 viewers (2:00 AM)
Tenchi Muyo! GXP – 632,000 viewers (1:00 AM)
Eureka Seven – 613,000 viewers (3:00 AM)
InuYasha – 559,000 viewers (5:00 AM)
Cowboy Bebop – 544,000 viewers (4:00 AM)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – 525,000 viewers (3:30 AM)
Cowboy Bebop – 517,000 viewers (4:30 AM)

I don’t believe it was pg because it in the first episode it actually showed the blood and the big shuriken going through Iruka’s back but idk maybe there is something I didn’t notice. Actually when the first episode was aired they played the jap. opening in the background as Naruto was running through Konoha with the paint lol.

It does feel like they are still censoring some stuff and I was also sad and mad to learn that Toonami will be using the lame ass opening and ending instead of the cool and meaningful ones that the Japanese saw.

I do believe Disney is still showing Naruto Shippuden on Disney XD. I hope they stop soon, Disney, in no way, should have such an adult show. Why did they take it and butcher it in the first place? Did they not see the original?

Why in the world would they recast the kid version of naruto? When the Shippuden series came out and is like 100x better than the kid version. And why in the world that time of the day. People are like asleep, working or doing homework at that time of the day.

Disney actually took Shippuden off the air due to poor ratings but they still have a licence to it.

Well he had no parent’s, and it’ll be pretty unwise if the 3rd hokage had let naruto do anything he want, so it would’ve been smart to put him in ninja academy at a much younger age, so by the time he failed the 2-3 test sasuke and sakura were in the group in the same age, thou sasuke is a bit older.

well thats a given, it wouldn’t matter if they had the license for the japanese version since they cant air it, and while it is true it went on haitus its pretty clear why it went on haitus. the views were horrible. so actually he is right cuz whether its on haitus or not they did take of the air (being why its not on tv anymore) because of bad views.

Disney never watches the original anything. They just tell the animators to censor everything non-kid friendly and then broadcast it. In this case it meant censor the ENTIRE SHOW! Damn Disney…

I kinda agree but I’d still keep FMA since its an anime that tends to get more people involved with anime its one of those heavy hitters. Outlaw star is amazing though I definitely would say it wouldn’t hurt them to put that on. I own the series so Its not a big deal for me. I don’t really watch any of the toonami only because I’m not always home and I don’t watch tv. I own all the shows that they have own right now aside from episodes 109 and up of Bleach. But for those unfamiliar with outlaw star definitely check it out.

Yes i it was only on Hiatus they would still air older episodes but due to bad ratings they replaced the time slot with something that would get them more ratings.

For the most part, I agreed with nearly everything you said so far. . . until I saw THIS load of COWABUNGA F**K!!!!!!!!! I personally think Shippuden is better than original in terms of entertainment, but in terms of structure, plot, and character development, the original SH!TS on Shippuden. No, I don’t think so. Shippuden gets regular releases over iTunes every 3 months.(although it was delayed by a few this year into January). It also gets DVD releases. Shippuden is far from over…it is still being dubbed.
