Project Versus J Art, Screenshots

Namco Bandai Games Japan has today released art and screenshots for the PlayStation 3 / PlayStation Vita anime crossover game, tentatively titled Project Versus J! No new information has been revealed as the game’s release date is still unannounced and the only officially confirmed characters are Goku, Toriko, and Luffy. Though unconfirmed, based on scan 3, it is likely Naruto will make it in the game.

Update: You can actually see Naruto a bit more clear in one of the new screenshots below! He is seen running toward Toriko in the background. Thanks Dorian!

    Toriko could well be the next Goku/Luffy, seeing as how all three of their anime is animated by Toei Animation and has similar traits to Goku and Luffy — obsessed with eating, super strong, a lot of potential (although Goku might have maxed out his), and a great spirit (e.g. goes apesh*t when they see someone they care about hurt [Toriko maybe not yet, but with the Battlewolf scene he did get pissed]). Toriko also has had a crossover (two for the anime) with One Piece as One Piece did with Dragon Ball. Naruto and Bleach are already super popular so it’ll just feel stale and redundant to include them instead of Toriko.

    Definitely buying this, they just need more characters from different series. If they put Yusuke and the crew in, that would be beast!

    One Piece is also about finding a treasure and Dragon Ball is about an alien fighting strong people and look how much both series have expanded into.

     Toriko is more popular than Bleach and also closer to DBZ and One Piece in terms of spirit. Naruto and Bleach are considerably more realistic and modern/stylish.

    That said, this is still just the initial announcement.

    It’s because in Japan Toriko is arguably Moreau famous if not more than Bleach so I can understand why Ichigo is not a featured character, maybe Toriko is now more popular than Naruto there so that’s why Naruto isn’t featured as well

     toriko is awesome! he’s got more guts than naruto will ever have! the series has skyrocketed within the last few years, I’ve only recently got into the series. you can’t just go ripping on other series like that, have you even watched? hey at least he’s ACTUALLY in the game unlike naruto. it tells you somthing, naruto can’t keep up with fighter such as these!

    Here’s my opinion though there are good choices too but they should add in some old anime characters that were in the shonen jump too now dragonball z, Bleach, One Piece & Naruto ain’t the only anime out there now. There were some animes out there before they came along. they should have put in yu yu hakusho and beelzebub. They were in shonen jump. here is my character list for what they should add in the Project Versus J Video Game and some of you guys can agree with me.

     I like that they are doing the graphics tech similar to Pirate Warriors as opposed to the terrible flat-looking Storm series.

    Yea same, the realistic graphics don’t fit well and it makes the effects look toned down. One piece pirate warriors had the same look wasn’t that great, prefer the cell shaded look of the storm series it would fit a lot better for these types of games.

    Eh even though I’m a huge one piece fan I still didn’t like those graphics either. It looked like the characters were made out of leather or something. Cel-shaded graphics pretty much always looks like anime if thats what you meant by flat, so anime graphics fit perfectly with games like these. Though this is just my opinion.

    good list but too many characters for each series, i doubt more than 4 characters from each will get in if that. for Beelzebub i see Oga, Tojo and Hilda, Aoi. Yu Yu Hakusho, Yusuke, Hiei, Toguro and Kuwabara.

    This def needs future trunks. It’d be nice if Trunks’ end of z form was included but that’s just wishful thinking. I also would like to see the real Madara. No worries about any other Naruto character.

    That Sad moment realizing Spike from Cowboy Bebop isn’t Shonen Jump, Makes me sad indeed. Though i’d like This game or Naruto Storm 3 gets Asura and Yasha as playable characters.
