With the fiercest Storm, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, making it’s way to Japan on April 18th (North America March 5, Europe March 8), Namco Bandai Games is releasing Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 for the PS3 and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact for the PSP – again!
Naruto Storm 2 will be re-released under the “PlayStation 3 The Best” banner, while Naruto Impact will be re-released under the “PSP The Best” banner. Both games will be exactly the same as the originals in content, the only difference expected is “The Best” banner on the box art.
If Saiyan Island understands correctly, games under the “The Best” banner in Japan are basically old games sold at a cheaper price. This is often done to re-issue a game under a new SKU so sales figures aren’t mixed with the original and to also get players who may have missed out to purchase the game. In other words, their purpose is exactly the same as PlayStation “Greatest Hits” games in North America.
The expected release date for “The Best” versions of both games is February 21, 2013 in Japan only. Naruto Storm 2 will be sold for 3,619 yen (around $40 USD) and Naruto Impact will be sold for 2,667 (around $30 USD). Prices among may retailers vary slightly. Based on Saiyan Island’s look back to the past, Naruto Storm 2 originally was priced about 7,330 yen (around $80 USD) when it was released on October 21, 2010 in Japan. Naruto Impact, which was released October 20, 2011 in Japan, was sold for about 5,230 yen (around $58 USD) originally.
