Toei Animation Licensing One Piece Film Z in US, Europe

Selling over 5.04 million tickets for a gross of over 6 billion yen ($68 million USD), One Piece Film Z is the hottest movie in the franchise! The movie was released on December 15 and is the second highest grossing film in Japan during 2012. With a few additional weeks at the box office, releasing July 13, only Umizaru 4 topped Film Z.

One Piece Film Z is scheduled to hit theaters in Taiwan on January 25, Singapore on February 1, and Hong Kong, Thailand, and South Korea on February 14 of this year. Toei Animation is interested in licensing the movie in Europe, the United States, and other regions in hopes of continuing the global expansion of Japanese anime.

    HELL YEAH!! It would be a dream if they’d release it to the US before it hits DVD in Japan. I’d like to see this in theaters, but a straight to DVD is perfectly alright with me!

    I know UK is in Europe, i said it probably won’t come out in the UK because to my knowledge it’s the only place that doesn’t get One Piece on DVD. So as it’s not on DVD the chances of a movie are slim.

    Europe doesn’t get those DVDs either though. if you look online you’ll most likely only find them available in Japan and America. the fact they’re licensing it in Europe means it will come here :) if it doesn’t then just import an EU version, I’m pretty sure the UK dvd and blu ray players have the same region lock as the eu :)

    I agree with you on that and anime never really gets to cinemas in the UK the fact that Ponyo got shown at some Vue cinemas was surprising, also the 1st Naruto movie was put as coming soon on Apollo cinemas website a few yrs back and when we asked about it they said there was no such thing.
