Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Reviewon March 5, 2013 at 5:46 AM
The day we’ve all been waiting for, the official North American release date of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is here! Saiyan Island’s exciting Storm 3 journey started several months ago with a small June 20, 2012 rumor. We hoped for it, we prayed for it, but couldn’t believe CyberConnect2′s latest masterpiece could be released just a year after their previous Naruto title, Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Our hopes became a reality on June 24, 2012 with a Shonen Jump confirmation and since then we’ve been all over the game, obsessed to know the latest as soon as it breaks!
So after all this anticipation, how does Storm 3 fare in Saiyan island’s eyes? Check out out Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 review below!
What We Love:
+ Fantastic cinematic sequences to retell the events of the Five Kage Summit and 4th Great Ninja War.
+ Tournament mode improved with exciting battle conditions (example)
+ Multiple costumes for a good majority of the roster
+ New jutsus in the form of awakening actions for the majority of roster (example)
+ 40 stages, the biggest in the Storm series (example)
+ Playable Characters: Madara Uchiha, Nagato, Rinnegan Tobi, Seven Jinchuriki
+ Instant awakening is extremely, extremely gratifying
+ New ring outs feature are a nice addition! Gives variety to stages as some have it and some don’t.
+ Original English and Japanese voices from the anime series (example)
+ Impressive soundtrack with new tunes mixed in with old Storm favorites (example)
+ Phenomenal graphics! The Storm series has blurred the line between anime and game forever! (example)
+ Online mode is back and better than ever for unlimited replay value. (example)
+ Diverse gameplay to keep the experience fresh from start to finish. Free battles, exploration, hack and slash, and quick time events (watch walkthrough)
What We Dislike:
- Lack of Swordsmen, Kinkaku/Ginkaku, 4 Edo Kage as playable characters
- Story mode ending is different from events in manga, which is still in progress.
- Ultimate Jutsu finish with secret factor: They’re phenomenal at first, but get repetitive and give rage quitters a few extra seconds to quit online matches.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is by far the best anime game to ever be released! A few flaws keep Storm 3 from being the perfection most Naruto fans thought it could be, but the positives heavily outweigh the negatives. Newcomers and our fellow Naruto enthusiasts will love it in all it’s hot-blooded glory! Saiyan Island expects to be enjoying this great adventure fighter for a long, long time!
