A while ago, Bleach author Tite Kubo was visited by the crew of Japanese television show Sakiyomi Jan Bang. On the program, Kubo-sensei shows off his place, which includes a huge CD collection, his bed, and the desk where the magic of Bleach manga creation takes place. The video below also includes segments of him drawing characters from the series and just drawings from Bleach in general. Again, you may have seen some, if not all parts of it, but we think it’s an interesting watch, especially if you have not seen it before!

    cool

  • ichigokun

His apartment is nice! Not too big, but not small either. Is he keeping the orignal Bleach mangas on his desk or are those the regular Shonen Jump ones? The originals will probably be worth millions!

  • lamegamee

    He is a god! :-o

  • Vallen

I always draw with a pencil, but it seemed he used ink of some sorts—it looked way sharper with black ink on white paper. Might give it a try

  • Chris Winkowski

Just by that size of his apartment and everything in it, you can tell he is pretty damn wealthy, I’m quite jealous lol,I’m surprised he lives alone tho, would have thought he had a family or at least a wife

  • Narutofreak1412

Which originals? The originals are like manuscripts in a wrapper and they are in the Weekly Shounen Jump editorial office.

  • Brendon Ravello

    He does have a wife.

  • Narutofreak1412

He is so cool, I`ve met him in germany at “Leipziger Buchmesse” this year. We shaked hands and he gave me an autograph. He also drew 2 pictures, one with Yoruichi and Ulquiorra and another with child Nel and Hitsugaya. he draws so fast and well, it´s amazing!

  • Chris Winkowski

Figured as much, guessing she was out at work

  • Final Susanoo

oooooooooooooooooo OOOOOOHHHHHH oohh Oh OOOOOOhhHH Ooooh

  • Reckless Haki

Not trying to be a troll or anything, but if he does draw pretty fast, I’m surprised he doesn’t take the time to draw more backgrounds(more time-consuming I guess?). But whatever, I love artstyle either way.

  • Final

Wow are you an adult? I just find it rare to see people who see other famous people.

  • Mugiwara

Love your art Tite Kubo!! :) Edit: Is there a Eichiiro Oda version?

  • Narutofreak1412

I don´t know him personally, but a few people had the chance to meet him and get an autograph and I was lucky to be one of them :) I´m 21, so yes I´m an adult.

  • Narutofreak1412

At “Leipziger Buchmesse” we could ask him a few questions and this was one of them. He answered: “Backgrounds distract the reader from what’s going on
inside the character. Whenever I leave backgrounds out, this is to allow
my readers to see the heart of the character.”

  • Final

Kubo can draw. Like a boss.

  • Luke Thompson

    can’t write though loooooooooooooool

    Nice drawings, only that.

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

    BLEACH FTW…(^0^)/

  • Final

What does that have to do with anything I just said?

  • Vega D.

Here’s to hope for a “Bleach Shippuden” just so that they can catch up to the current manga chapters.

  • Kuwabara

Holy $hit, I wish I could draw like that

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

    Me too…^_^

  • hellninja123 .

me three and i use copic markers

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

  • Craig

    Awesome!

I wish I knew what they were saying, though…

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

    Yep…^_^

  • You2000

Has anyone asked why Bleach is called bleach? because i haven’t seen a single bleach in the manga or anime.

  • Narutofreak1412

Nope. Too bad, forgot to ask this >.< But I know he is a big Nirvana Fan. For example the phase Don Kanonji is always saying: "Smells like bad spirits" is actually based of a song title by them: "Smells Like Teen Spirit", so it wouldn`t surprise me if he named the series Bleach after Nirvanas first album "Bleach".

  • You2000

I see. I would’ve loved to have met him too. Masashi Kishimoto, Tite Kubo, and Saruwatari Tetsuya are my favourite Japanese authors; i would love to meet them one day :D

  • Narutofreak1412

I wish you good luck, that someday they will visit your country or state :)

    Bring bleach back pls ^^

  • EliteTrainerXeos

The reason it’s called bleach, is to due with the black shihakushou that soul reapers wear. Don’t know much about it though but this is what Kubo said.

  • Rik Clarke

After the Soul Society Arc, the writing of Bleach has not been the best. And the Fullbring arc didnt do it any justice which resulted in the anime getting cancelled due to its low ratings.

This thousand year blood war arc in the manga is pretty good so far and i really wish the anime could go back and animate it.

Maybe when the manga finally ends, the anime might go back to it..

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

Tite Kubo. A unique name for a Japanese Person (“Japanese person” sounds a bit off for some reason to me). Now, if Ichigo can go back into something similar to his pre Mugetsu released form with two chains around both his arms… I’ll cry in glee ( ‘__’).
    -
You did not see that last part.

  • Darkblondie

    the other way around

  • Bartholomew Kuma

I like Bleach, but I disagree. Overall Kishi is a better writer to me, he’s done some pretty incredible arcs, In both Bleach and Naruto’s current arcs, yeah I’d say Bleach has better writing at the moment, but I enjoy Naruto more than I enjoy Bleach in general (Soul Society arc was incredible though, and Hueco Mundo Arc was great up until the Fake Karikuri Town Arc, it got really crappy after that but I loved a number of Naruto arcs, especially the Chuunin exam and the Pain Arc).

  • Bartholomew Kuma

I would love to see Oda do some of his color spreads, He always makes incredible ones. His art is very unique.

  • Kuwabara

lol dude why do you have to bring naruto into this, just because he is bashing another anime you assume that he likes naruto.

  • hellninja123 .

there good but expensive depending on where you get them from

  • AiHina

“Japanese person” is still more acceptable than the abbreviated term that was used racially during the war that many seem oblivious to

  • Luke Thompson

lol it was a joke man, I deleted the comment, Didn’t know I was starting a flame war, funny thing is I actually like Bleach and the current arc is amazing :)

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

The 3 letter word and four letter plural term. I don’t even think of that word… But if I said “Japanese male” that would be fine too (I’m not asking that question because I don’t know anything about Japanese culture, by the way. You just seem like someone who’d be nice to talk to in “real life”), right?

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

    Prove it.
    -
Owned. (No, I’m not an atheist)

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

Yes. But not called “Shippuden”. We don’t need another spectacular Hurricane Chronicle (what “Shippuden” means).

  • Luke Thompson

Kubo’s art is amazing, however I would like to see more backgrounds from the dude

  • Luke Thompson

Yep the full bring arc was like a poorly executed version of the Sensui arc from Yu Yu Hakusho and I agree the current arc is beast

  • AiHina

Glad that it doesn’t cross your mind, just that there are many who are unaware of the offense they can cause by typing or saying it in the wrong context

  • Valdrin Emini

just wondering were the autographs for free ? and i heard that you can request a drawing from a mangka with there series charaters. is that true because he did that for shouen jump alapha

  • Narutofreak1412

Yes, the autographs were for free. You just had to be at “Leipziger Buchmesse”. That is a book fair and of course you have to pay entrance cost. At a fixed time, all people had to go up in a line and the first people had the chance to draw lots. There were a lot securitys and bodyguards around. And only a few lucky people who draw a winner-lot were allowed to go to Kubo.

The 2 pictures he draw weren´t for me. Kubo’s companions picked 4 people from the audience, each one choose one character. I don´t know what happend to the pictures after he draw them.
Taking pictures and recording video were strictly forbidden so it´s kinda hard to find recordings of that.

  • Narutofreak1412

It´s his pen name. His real name is Noriaki Kubo. We say Tite Kubo, but japanese people speak it “Kubo Taito” as you can hear in the video.

  • IamIchigoKurosaki

Lol, I, Ichigo Kurosaki approve this message. Thank you Tite for creating me.

  • Vendettá

I don’t understand why the Fullbring arc was so bad.. Well, I’m talking about the Anime.
The Animation was fantastic, the action was awesome, the characters were awesome.
Even though this is my opinion, I believe the Fullbring arc to be a fantastic arc in the Anime.

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

It’s ok if you down-vote my comments fan-boys, I can’t force you to up-vote it.

  • Toed

When people with black hair attempt to dye it a lighter colour, it can sometimes come out orange. Ichigo was bullied earlier in life because people thought he bleached his hair. His trouble with bullies leads him to get into a lot of fights and this is (indirectly, I believe) how he meets Chad.
That’s one reason. I personally think there’s probably some deeper symbolism there too. Black and white are opposites and bleach is sort of a way to “bridge the gap” between those two. There *is* kindof a recurring theme of Ichigo bridging the gap between certain opposing factions, like Humans and Soul Reapers… And then… Other things later in the series. (Wouldn’t want to spoil anything). So maybe that’s a reason too. That’s just my theory though.

  • Rik Clarke

I believe many people thought it bad because it was so slow. And we were introduced with characters we didnt know or care much about. When really, everyone wanted to see some soul reapers. Also, Ichigo’s training was boring as well. The concept was creative though, being in a dollhouse, video game, but still dull and boring. Least in my opinion

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

Yeah, most definitely. I guess that my “other” things I think about are just too important. ^.^

  • Rekkonn P. Xanderxindershin

I know a bit about the word order of the Japanese language ( but I still don’t understand it entirely unfortunantely, as with other languages that have a SOV/SVO, etc. language order).

  • Vendettá

Yeah but seeing the awesome twist in the characters, and learning their true motives was awesome. The training I agree on though. The problem with Bleach is that it never expanded upon its powers to begin with, and randomly introduce these characters from nowhere, which irritates me, if we were introduced to Fullbringers at the start, instead of them just popping up, it would have been more interesting.

  • Vendettá

His drawings are very unique, I love his art style. I tried drawing my own Anime character from Scratch, using basic guidelines, and some inspirations, and its not as easy as it would seem.

  • Rik Clarke

I agree. If they were mentioned like way in the begining of the series, yeah it would have been interesting. Sadly, it felt like Kubo just pulled it right out of his ass. And yes, I also enjoyed the twist on their true motives as well.
