Naruto Shippuden made it’s uncut debut this past Sunday (January 5) in the USA on Adult Swim’s Toonami on Cartoon Network with episode 1, Homecoming. How did it do? Pretty decent, actually! An estimated 933,000 viewers tuned in, making it the most watched show in it’s 12:30 AM timeslot for men between the ages of 18-24 on cable television. The original Naruto made it’s uncut debut back in December 2012 with an estimated 925,000 viewers.

Naruto Shippuden wasn’t #1 for the night when comparing it to other Toonami shows, however. The world premiere of the Space Dandy anime and Bleach (episode 326) led the way in the first and second positions, respectively. Naruto Shippuden came in third. One Piece (episode 235, Big Fight Under the Moon! The Pirate Flag Flutters With Sorrow!) followed Naruto Shippuden in fifth place. All four shows were actually #1 for men 18-24 in their individual timeslots when comparing across all cable television channels. That’s not just a comparison with anime, but all programming.

As for the original Naruto, it’s run has restarted at a new time with episode 1 (Enter: Naruto Uzumaki). It placed 7th overall in Toonami’s line-up of shows. Take a look at the Toonami ratings below for the first week of 2014, sorted by most viewed to least viewed.
