Bandai/CC2 Discuss Open World Naruto, PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita

Naruto on PS4 and Xbox One? How about Naruto on PS Vita? Will we ever get an open world Naruto game? Those are the questions Ultimate Ninja Storm series producer Daisuke Komoto from Bandai Namco Games and the director/president/CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama from developer CyberConnect2 address in a new interview by GamerGen! The original interview had questions in French, so Saiyan Island has translated them into English for easier understanding.

After checking out the interview, we highly recommend sharing your thoughts and desires on what the next Naruto game should have in Saiyan Island’s comment section below this article. This will allow your others to see what you want, which is great, because they may want the same thing too! Then, after reading the wishes of your fellow Naruto Storm fans, go to CyberConnect2’s official feedback form at cc2.co.jp/narutimate_enq/intl.html and submit everything you want, including those things that you liked, as expressed by your fellow Naruto fans. The more times the same features are submitted the more likely it will be included in the next Naruto game. The great people over at CyberConnect2 are listening, so this is the chance to share our utmost Ultimate Ninja desires, YOSH!

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution will, no doubt, be a great installment in the series, but it is not on the PS4 or Xbox One, so can we expect a Naruto on the new generation of consoles?

Currently we’re working our full efforts on the release of Revolution so we don’t really have anything planned right now, but we’re looking into it because the PS4 and Xbox One have already been released, so we hope you stay tuned!

Can you explain what the differences are between Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution and its predecessors?

One of the main differences between this game, Revolution, and the previous games in the series is the battle system. We put in a lot of effort to make this, the battle system, seem more revamped and we have offered deeper gameplay for the users. We have a company that is specializing in the battle system cooperating with us during the development so we are very excited to bring this to you!

The PSP had quite a few Naruto games. Can we expect to see Naruto titles on the PS Vita? Besides, what do you think of the PS Vita?.

We really love the PS Vita hardware. We think it’s a very fabulous piece of hardware and we would love to look into the opportunities. We are aware that many of our fans have purchased PSP games and we are happy they have done so and supported us in the past. And if we do hear these fans want a PS Vita then we would love to look into it further.

In a future installment, would it be possible to have an open world like the first Storm? In the Hidden Leaf Village, for example, it was possible top explore in between missions. It would be nice to do the same thing, but around different villages.

This is something that we really need to take into discussion further with CyberConnect2. In Storm 1 we do believe that Hidden Leaf Village was very well illustrated and allowed a very deep open world gameplay for the players. We would love to expand on that idea in future Naruto games, however, it is a big universe that naruto has and so if we hear more feedback from our fans that our fans would love a new open world game then we would love to look into it further.

Out of curiosity, if the producer and director are both here, why not discuss this question on open world right now? (Laughter)

This kind of discussion can’t just be held in a situation like this. We really need to take this back and discuss this in large depth with CyberConnect2. But there are lots of different gamers that we can look into from making in the next Ultimate Ninja Storm game. Like different kind of genres we can pursue, but it reality it takes both of us to determine which we should take. We think its an absolutely great idea to make an open world Naruto game, however, right now we are focusing on encasing a roster of playable characters and enhancing the battle system, Right now that’s what we really want to focus on. But if the fans are wanting or desiring an open world game we would love to look into it because that sounds amazing!

Mecha Naruto is a rather eccentric character. In your opinion, do you think he will entertain players?

We can say with confidence that we believe the fans are going to love Mecha Naruto. Within this game we are already caught up to the original manga of Naruto and kind of portray the latest characters so when we discussed this with the original mangaka, Kishimoto-sensei, we really wanted to perhaps create a new and original game-excluisve character and Kishimoto-sensei was very coop and wanted to make a character that would leave very big impact on fans. The resulting character was really very fun robotic Mecha Naruto. after discussing with Kishimoto-sensei, after he gave us the original rough drafts of his design, we played on the idea and made him transform into a giant robot. We think he is a very fun character. This is the result of working together with Kishimoto-sensei to make sure this is a character that will be very well loved!

The final question is if there are any final worlds for the community and fans of your work. Since this interview was given before the online demo for Revolution was extended, we’re summarizing the gist of what Matsuyama-san said, but of course you can watch it below too. He pretty much says he hopes everybody has a chance to enjoy the demo on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will allow players to fight worldwide against each other and fight for the top spot on the leaderboards. If there is any feedback that fans have, then they should voice their opinion using Bandai Namco/CyberConnect2’s website (link in the second paragraph of this article)!
