New information and images related to the 2015 Dragon Ball Z movie, Resurrection F (also known as Revival of F and Fukkatsu no F), are here! First, let’s talk about the origin of the new swirly logo on Goku and Vegeta’s shirt. In Dragon Ball Z Resurrection F, both Goku and Vegeta train with Whis, the attendant and master of the God of Destruction, Beerus. Before their training, they wear shirts with nothing really on them, but as Goku and Vegeta are training, mid-battle, Whis marks both Saiyan warrior’s shirts with his insignia. You can take a look at a preview in manga form thanks to Korean website Marumaru below.
In a new scan, Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z, gave his thoughts and comments on Golden Frieza. He, of course, shares his expertise in Japanese, but thanks to the good people over at Kanzenshuu, we know what he says. Toriyama-sensei says:
Once the theme, of Freeza’s resurrection at the very least, was set, since Freeza is an extremely distinct character, even a forgetful person like me remembered him well. Plus, this time I had also decided to increase the amount of action scenes, so more and more story ideas came easily. All I had left was [to decide] how to upgrade the rejuvenated Freeza. Luckily, the characters of Beerus and Whis, who I took some hints for from the scriptwriter for the last movie, Battle of Gods, stood out plenty already. Combining these [elements] together, the story was completed smoothly, which is rare for me. All those animators probably had a super tough time of it, though. (laughs) If you were to enjoy watching it, I would truly scream with delight! Kyaa! (an old man’s scream)
In other scans, it is revealed while Goku and Vegeta are training, the rest of the Z Warriors are defending Earth! Gohan, Master Roshi, Piccolo, Tien, Krillin, and even Bulma and Jaco the Patrolman (who is from another manga created by Toriyama-sensei) take on the responsibility to fight Frieza’s army while the two full-blooded Saiyans work to get stronger.
Last, but not least are character designs! We’ve seen how all the characters look like through the trailers, but here are the designs showing the front, back, and side without having to pause any high speed action. From top to bottom in order are Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Master Roshi, Krillin, Golden Frieza, Sorbet, Tagoma, and First Form Frieza. For those who have not been keeping up with the movie news, Sorbet and Tagoma are members of Frieza’s army who revived him using the Dragon Balls.
