Written and illustrated by Japanese mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi, the story focusing on a boy finding his father and following in his footsteps returns June 26, 2017. The acclaimed Hunter x Hunter manga series will return to serialization in Shuiseha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine next month to continue the adventures of protagonist Gon Freecss.
Hunter x Hunter has been hit with many hiatuses due to the mangaka’s health and motivation. Hunter x Hunter took a two year hiatus in 2012 and returned in June 2014, but went back on break two months later. Then in April of 2016, it returned once more, only to go back on hiatus once again on June 4, 2016.
It’s unclear how long Hunter x Hunter is back this time around, but fans hope it will be for years to come and until the story of Gon Freecss has been told to completion.
Hunter x Hunter first began serailization on March 3, 1998. To date, there have been 360 chapters of the manga publisher with over 66 million copies of manga volumes sold in Japan alone. Hunter x Hunter has produced two anime series (one in 1999 and one in 2011, which concluded without an ending) and three separate original animation videos.
