Posted on July 6, 2017

2018 is getting a live action movie based off of Tite Kubo’s manga – BLEACH. Today, the official website revealed the first key visual of the movie’s protagonist – Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15-year old high school student with orange hair. The text on the visual says “Shinigami, Meeting.” Ichigo is played by a 24-year old Japanese actor named Sota Fukushi.

Additional announcements for the movie are expected Friday, July 7 (which is later today in Japan, as of this writing). Friday is the Japanese holiday of Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival), which is festival to celebrate the meeting of the deities and lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi. Orihime is also one of the names of the characters in the Bleach manga.

Below is the first visual of Ichigo along with the movie’s (possibly temporary) logo.

The live action Bleach movie was originally announced in 2012 and then confirmed to be directed by Shinsuke Sato, who directed the live-action Gantz movies.

The Bleach live action movie will debut in Japan in the Summer of 2018 thanks to Warner Bros. The chapters or episodes the movie will cover has not yet been revealed at this point in time. No news has been announced in regards to a Bleach anime at this time, which ran 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012, starting with the beginning of the Bleach manga to chapter 479 (the The Lost Substitute Shinigami arc). Saiyan Island hopes to have additional information in regards to the Bleach live action movie (and anime if anything transpires) as it is announced.
