UPDATE: JULY 10 – Future Trunks Will Not Be At Evo
Bandai Namco Entertainment and Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ is making its way to the popular video game sporting event this year – the Evolution Championship Series or EVO for short. The event will play host to a variety of other competitive fighting games in addition to FighterZ – from Capcom’s Street Fighter V, to Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers to Bandai Namco’s own Tekken 7.
EVO will take place July 14-16, 2017 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) this year with the Dragon Ball FighterZ tournaments taking place on the 14th and 15th. All registrants will receive a free DRAGON BALL FighterZ Evo 2017 T-Shirt! There will be a total of four FighterZ tournaments, sign-ups took place for a very limited time at smash.gg. Winners will get prizes, however, those have not yet been announced at this time.
Responding to a question on Twitter, Joey Cuellar, who is the Chief Executive Officer of EVO, the version of Dragon Ball FighterZ at the event will be a build that includes Future Trunks. To be clear, the version of Future Trunks confirmed is the one from Dragon Ball Z, not Dragon Ball Super.
It’s possible the Dragon Ball Super version of Future Trunks and other characters unannounced at this time may be playable as well, but as of right now, the roster of characters is Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, and the DBZ version of Future Trunks. As more characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ are announced, we hope to let you know right here on Saiyan Island!
