Bandai Namco Enterainment and Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ will be at this year’s Evolution Championship Series (EVO 2017), which is a popular video game sporting event.
A Twitter user asked Joey Cuellar (the Chief Executive Officer of EVO) if the version of Dragon Ball FighterZ at EVO would have Future Trunks (he was announced to be in the final roster of FighterZ). Cullar responded by saying “It will be the Trunks build or later!”. That Tweet has since been deleted.
From the official EVO Twitter account it was announced a few days later that Dragon Ball FighterZ at EVO “will only feature the following characters: Cell, Frieza, Gohan, Goku, Buu, Vegeta.” This is the same version of the game that was playable at E3 in June.
Although we aren’t sure why Cuellar mentioned Future Trunks (or a later build) would be at EVO, it’s likely Bandai Namco Entertainment America clarified what version of the game would be available to them for play. From our understanding, sometimes the Japanese branch of Bandai Namco Entertainment dictates what can or cannot be used, although in this scenario it is just our speculation.
