Shikamaru Naara and Choji Akamichi are heading their way to Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. The news comes from a black-and-white page from Shuisesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which confirms both as playable characters in their Naruto Shippuden forms. Shikamaru is a heal character-type that has the power to attack and bind opponents with his Shadow Stitching Jutsu. Choji is a defense character type with the power to overwhelm and crush opponents with his Expansion Jutsu.
Other confirmed characters thus far are Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, Itachi, Kisame, Pain, and Konan. In addition to Shikamaru and Choji, Jump highlights Naruto and Sasuke as well. Naruto is an attack-type character with the wind-style deep-cutting jutsu, the Rasenshuriken. Sasuke is a long-ranged character with the power to electrify multiple opponents with his Kirin jutsu. Naruto also has the Rasengan and Sasuke also has Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu, both of which were shown in the latest trailer.
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is a multiplayer game set in the Naruto universe. Players will be able to fight with their favorite characters and discover a new gameplay style set in thrilling 3D environments with a graphic style completely different from the Naruto Storm series. Up to eight human players can engage to become the greatest ninja.
In order attain victory, a team of players must combine the right combination of skills as they will be able to select characters with RPG-like attributes – Attack Type, Ranged Type, Defense Type, and Heal Type. These are depicted by the fist, shield, shuriken, and heart symbol in the image below. Players can change tactics and strategy by changing the combination of styles on their team. Each character must carry out their role in order to guide their team to victory.
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is in development by developer Soleil Ltd. and will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC/Steam. A specific release date has not yet been announced, but the game will be published sometime early in 2018. Saiyan Island hopes to have additional information as it is announced.
