Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: Nintendo Switch Sales Numbers Revealed (Japan)

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Nintendo Switch hit Japanese retailers on Thursday, September 7. The very next day, Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was a hit in Japan and there was a shortage of the physical version of the game. Just how many copies of the game were sold?

According to Japanese data company MediaCreate, 24,045 copies of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for the Nintendo Switch flew off shelves. The sales report are for the period between September 4th and September 10th, but because Xenoverse 2 was released on the 7th and due to Bandai Namco’s announcement, we assume 24,045 copies sold is just for a day or two of sales, which is phenomenal. Just to note, those sales are just the physical version, it’s unclear how many copies were sold on the Nintendo eShop. When we checked yesterday, we saw Xenoverse 2 was #1 on the best sellers list in the eShop.

When Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was originally released in Japan back on November 2, 2016, it had sales of 66,035 copies sold on the PS4 over 5 days. Below are the top 10 games in terms of sales from a report that tallied numbers between the period of September 4 to September 10, 2017. The number in parenthesis notes the number of sales of a game since it went on sale at retailers unless it is noted by (NEW), which means this is it’s first week on sale.

    Neat

  • Exkirion

    There is a Konosuba game?!

  • Clavicus Vile

    Literally nobody cares.

  • randy191993

We should. It may directly influence them to bring FighterZ to the Switch too.

  • It’s a visual novel so yeah …

  • uhMayzedHD

But Nintendo is garbage last time they been relevant was when Sony wasn’t in the console game.

Oh, so it’s not a game.

  • Saiyan Soul

Literally has “game” in the title and comes packaged with another mini game as well, VN’s are games.

  • Ahtma ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᴴᴱˢᴴ

I was largely joking and regardless of my own opinion on visual novels (read: not positive) I know they’re games.

  • Saiyan Soul

Really nothing to joke about since the title just pulls apart the joke though. I know hence why I replied.

Pretty undeserved considering Bamco price gouged Switch owners with no DLC (probably in anticipation of recouping cost when it failed as they expected) and a full price release in JP, but great for FighterZ fans.

Planning to pick this up when it inevitably hits the bargain bin this November.

That was a surprisingly good episode of Boruto.

  • E3 2017’s differentiating excitement for game releases mandates other wise, and on the contrary nintendo has been having a lot more success than you think.

Correct: Some dont cares. Not nobody “everybody’ cares. 🙂

Success with hardware comes in a Marthon not a sprint. “If” it stop selling now it would be a failure.

Why does this suprise everyone if Nintendo with 2-3 NPD’s new hardware sells PS and Xbox been out for 4Yrs. I knew Nintendo going win. Popularity loss? You going have send a link to that. But the 3Ds is a good handleheld Switch is just a bad console.

  • Never said popularity loss, I said “more popular” but, here you go “Nintendo is finally starting to send out some extra Switch stock. Thanks to that, the system was the best-selling console in the United States last month. NPD has confirmed that Switch outsold the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in July. The system is also contributing to a healthy gaming market in the United States.” Source: nintendoeverything website july 2017

Ye I seen NPD like I said Switch going win a few NPD because it’s a new console. Healthy gaming Market I disagree with that it’s been 7 months and hardly no 3rd Support if you gotta feed your inner gamer you got to buy another console just to play out the games that came out this year.
