Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: Over Half Million Copies Sold on Switch

Posted on January 11, 2018

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 now has sold over half a million (500,000) copies worldwide! This includes the physical retail versions and the downloadable version. Bandai Namco says there is a shortage of the physical versions and more copies are expected to be shipped in February.

The Switch version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was launched on September 7, 2017 in Japan and September 22, 2017 in the Americas and Europe so 500,000 copies sold is quite impressive! This is especially because the game was out for almost a year already on PS4, Xbox One, and PC with over 3.3 million copies shipped.

Despite the success of Xenoverse 2 and other Bandai Namco titles, no information has been announced for a much-desired Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ. We’re pretty sure it’s under development and using Xenoverse 2’s example, it will probably be announced on Switch sometimes after it launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Afterall, at E3 in 2017, Dragon Ball FighterZ producer, Tomoko Hiroki, mentioned it is absolutely possible to bring Dragon Ball FighterZ to the Nintendo Switch. There was no difficulty for the developers to port over Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch has enough power to back Dragon Ball FighterZ, without any question. The missing piece to bring FighterZ to Switch was fan requests. And as we’ve seen via Twitter and by Xenoverse 2’s success, the fan request and demand for Dragon Ball on Switch is there!

  • Otto Suwen

    Thanks

  • Tsuna Sawada

Guess what bruh I got another

  • Koibito888

Not likely. Trunks already put god Ki on SSJ2.

I think Vegeta is gonna get the same power boost Goku has (without UI) by learning how to ‘break his shell’ on his own and he’ll add Blue to it so it’ll be like Goku’s power when he fought Jiren (minus UI) if Goku could go SSJ at that point. Goku will have UI to make up for his lack of transformation while in that state.

Basically Vegeta looks the same as he would if he had the silver eyes and aura Goku does (which is more likely caused by the ‘breaking the shell’ power up and not UI which is separate) but as if he just put Blue on that. And since Trunks already did SSJ2 but with God Ki I don’t think it’ll be a Blue 2.

  • Paul Watson

According To Nintendo Leaks, A Switch Port Is Supposed To Be Coming Late This Year For Fighterz.

  • Navok76

    Lmao

  • PurexedSolitude;

Does anyone know why the FighterZ beta is saying ” You do not have permission to access this content.”?

  • Megalan

If they port OPBB to switch I’d get one.

  • Koibito888

And look at that, I was completely and to a tee correct not only about exactly what Vegeta’s power up was going to be, but that the power boost ‘breaking your shell’ IS in fact completely separate from UI, AND that ‘breaking your shell’ causes the silver eyes and epic aura, NOT Ultra Instinct which causes no physical changes whatsoever. Also like I said there was no freaking attack half of UI that Vegeta’s going to get that was an incredibly silly idea if you just paid attention to how UI was explained. Once again the small details line up and all make sense.

  • KDG

People were definitely over-reaching with that “Ultra Instinct Attack Mode” crap. It was pretty basic what Whis explained, stating that attacking on instinct is especially difficult because EVERYONE (not just Goku, you idiots) thinks about what attacks would be more effective, as opposed to simply dodging. None of this ever implied that there were two different “modes” to Ultra Instinct, or that Vegeta would have an easier time attacking than Goku would – because let’s not forget Whis also stated a long time ago that Vegeta is especially guilty of overthinking in battle, unlike Goku, so logically using Ultra Instinct whether to dodge or attack would be especially difficult for Vegeta. But, I suppose that’s your average anime fan for you.

While I don’t particularly care for Vegeta’s new form and would have preferred him achieving Ultra Instinct, I DO like how Vegeta gained his new power. It took for Goku to unconsciously resist the power of his Spirit Bomb in order to break through his shell and achieve the power that granted him use of Ultra Instinct. But Vegeta broke through his own shell through pure effort of will. Classic Vegeta; achieving through effort and desire what Goku almost always accidentally stumbles upon, or is simply given – I’m talking to you, Super Saiyan God. I look forward to seeing how much further Jiren can push Vegeta and Goku within these final seven minutes.

  • Koibito888

THANK YOU good god I explained that to people so much and no one got it.

I LOVE that they gave Vegeta just the power boost and not UI, people needed to understand these were two different powers and giving it to Vegeta was the perfect way to do so. And yeah like you said, classic Vegeta to break his shell on his own through pure will. Not to mention he saw Goku do it so it wasn’t like he randomly did it either, he had a goal he was aware of and did it. I’m really glad he didn’t get UI.

What about the form don’t you like?

  • KDG

Believe me, I’ve explained that so many times, I eventually gave up and let people be willfully ignorant. They didn’t get it because they didn’t want to.

There’s really nothing particular about the form that I don’t like. I was just hoping that, as Super re-established Gohan’s Ultimate power (unleashed potential), and Goku’s new form which, to me, is no more than a more advanced/powerful state of unleashed potential, they were finally straying away from the overly gimmicky repetition that is Super Saiyan forms. I would have liked for Vegeta to reach a similar state where he regains his base appearance, instead of another palette swap. To me, it signifies that their power has grown as warriors, and not simply as Saiyans. But, as I’m typing this, I suppose it’s only appropriate that Vegeta achieves another Super Saiyan form, as he did previously state he would never throw away who he is as a Saiyan. Still though, I’ve long since grown weary of these constant palette swaps.

  • Koibito888

    Exactly…. Ugh

I mean they can’t just give him a power based on nothing, it has to be established. Even Goku’s new limit break was introduced alongside a technique that was set up arcs ago. Especially in DBZ new powers have to have established basis and the ‘breaking your shell’ was about all that’s left for Vegeta to reach. And even though that came out of nowhere it did still play on the idea of a max potential and breaking through it – like you said it’s almost like Mystic. One’s ‘shell’ has always been a thing in Z and so breaking it at least makes sense based on preexisting things.

I mean if anything it’s not an upgrade of Blue or an extension of it, if anything Blue is the afterthought, the additive to the base power. It’s as if Vegeta went limit break base form like Goku did just he stacked Blue on it so really they did stray away from new SSJ forms, it’s not even another SSJ form it’s just blue off a new base form. It’s not even a palette swap it’s just brighter in the same way that Goku’s new form is just base with brighter but still black hair.

Yeah they can’t give up what makes them Saiyans. But this way really did do it the way you described how they should, with a new non Saiyan base ability, it just so happens he put blue on it in the same way Goku has UI on his.

I hope. I bet power alone they’ll be equal, but Blue will like multiply that power for Vegeta while UI amps the speed for Goku and they’ll like equal out through different methods, resulting in the standing hinted at at the end of the ending theme where you got this new Vegeta next to UI Goku as if that is their answer to one another’s power.

  • Mr_Steven

So how is everyone’s experience with FighterZ open beta so far?

  • PurexedSolitude;

    I’m unable to play it.

    Not sure why.

  • SM

On the XBOX i have yet been able to get in a match for the Beta

  • Navok76

bamco is ‘working’ on fixing this issue

  • Navok76

Man the only thing i enjoyed in the beta is fusions (e.g. nappa 18, super saiyan beerus ), tbh i don’t really want ASW to fix it so i can see “what do you think of this color? beautiful, isn’t it?” meme everywhere in the full game lol

  • Koibito888

The name for Vegeta’s new form should be Limit Break Blue or something.

Goku’s was fan named Limit Break for a while and now it’s proven (though it was obvious) that not only is that form/base power up is separate from the technique Ultra Instinct, but the ‘breaking of your shell/limits’ is what’s responsible for the silver eyes and sparkly aura and since it’s a base power up that Blue is on top of, SSJB should come second.

Simplest name is the best, Limit Break SSJ Blue, Limit Break Blue for short.

  • KDG

Super Saiyan was never a limit breaker. Super Saiyan, like Kaioken, is a power multiplier, and nothing more. It’s never been achieved by a Saiyan breaking through any limiting shells. While Super Saiyan multiplies the base power of a Saiyan through transformation, these limit breakers allow them to reach the depths of their potential – power that they have but could not previously access, much like the potential that Guru and later on Elder Kai unlocked in Gohan.

I don’t care for the name Limit Break Blue, but it’s a hell of a lot better than Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan.

  • KDG

On another note, I like that Goku and Vegeta are, for the first time ever in canon, fighting together as a team. However, I’m surprised they are unable to properly coordinate their attacks. It’s fortunate that their inability to coordinate attacks is ultimately what seems to be throwing Jiren off and making their combined assault more effective, but I would expect two rivals who have witnessed more than enough of each other’s individual battles to be able to properly coordinate their attacks and play off of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It makes perfect sense that Gohan and 17 would be unable to pull off a team assault, having never once seen each other fight prior to the Tournament of Power. Vegeta and Goku, however, have not only fought each other twice, but Vegeta has watched Goku fight Android 19, Cell, Beerus, Fourth and Golden Form Frieza, Black, Hit, and Jiren, while Goku has watched Vegeta fight Jeice, Ginyu, Kid Buu, Cabba, Hit, Black, and Jiren. They have even fused into Vegito twice, trained/sparred together with Whis, and fought together to defeat and eliminate the Trio de Dangers. Logically, they should have extensive knowledge of each other’s abilities and fighting styles. I wonder why they can’t get it together.

  • Koibito888

Well first off ssj1 is not a limit break it was a natural evolution that extends existing limits. Ssj2, 3, kaioken, all temporary broke limits at the cost of greater and greater backlash. Gohan proves limits grow naturally which makes sense and finally only through old kai was his potential released passed ones limits naturally. So we already have a concept of temporary and inconvenient reaches beyond limits but with still a consistent limit. Gohan was the first instance of the actual limit being broken and only because of old kai.

This is a base form, no extra strain of transforming that wastes ki, an actual break of limits. If anything is a true and naturally achievable limit break it is this.

Limit break Blue is the shortest and most blatant name I can think of, limits breaking being what this ability is repeatedly called, it is the base form that blue is on top of and so it’s name has to come first, blue second, and it has to be blatant and to the point. That would be a good name for it so what would you propose?

Super vegeta blue would suggest it has anything to do with ascended so that’d be a pretty lame name if he goes with that.

TBH the only reason I’m thinking of it is because much like most forms now I think hell either not name it at all, or hell take multiple arcs to name it. So I don’t think there will be a name anyway until like heroes does some nonsense like with the pretty bad name of ssj rage.

And yeah limit break ssj blue which would be limit break blue for short what’s not simple about that.

  • Koibito888

Part of the point was that question

What do you think would be a name for it? And I mean a real good form name, no crazy archaic or grandiose sounding names I want logic and correct knowledge put into it.

That’s why I’m like that with this name. Better way to answer the question, what would you call this form without Blue? What would you call Goku’s power up separate from UI?

The best way to name this form is that name + Blue.

  • Koibito888

Well to be real they were fighting pretty well together for two people who can’t fight together. Just knowing ones style isn’t the same as practicing with it. If anything his mind would be on how you counter it rather than how you add yours to it. It looked to me that the influence of knowing each other let them fight pretty decently in sync just not enough to be a perfectly coordinated attack that Jiren could block as one move.

  • KDG

I’m not sure exactly what I would call this form. I suppose the most logical names would be Limit Breaker Blue, or Full Power Super Saiyan Blue.

I think before they name Vegeta’s form, they need to finally establish for the masses a name for Goku’s form. Every time we see Goku break through his shell, they keep referring to it as Ultra Instinct. Clearly the form is not Ultra Instinct, as Whis was using Ultra Instinct while training Goku and Vegeta pre-Golden Frieza, and he took no such form. As they continue to refer to Goku’s form as Ultra Instinct, it’s misleading people into believing Ultra Instinct is a transformation, when in fact Goku’s new form (which should be referred to as Limit Breaker until a permanent name is established) merely gives him access to a level of speed that is required to be able to utilize the technique or fighting style that is Ultra Instinct.

What should be considered before naming Vegeta’s form is: is Vegeta’s form the equivalent of Limit Breaker with Super Saiyan Blue tacked on? Or does Vegeta’s Limit Breaker form bear a resemblance to his Super Saiyan Blue form because he was Super Saiyan Blue when he broke through his shell? It’s still unclear at this point. Goku fell unconscious after taking that Spirit Bomb head on, so it would make sense that he was probably at base form when that power was awakened inside him. On the other hand, Vegeta was fully conscious and was willfully breaking through his shell, while also powering up as Super Saiyan Blue. Or I could just be overthinking it.

  • PurexedSolitude;

The only Super Saiyan form stated to be a limit breaker was SSJ4, but I mean it’s not even canon.

Super Saiyan as whole is only a multiplier onto base. No more no less.

  • PurexedSolitude;

I was able to play once then got kicked due to inactivity and haven’t been able to get on since.

They should extend the beta since it’s them that weren’t ready to welcome players onto the servers.

  • Koibito888

I think even ‘Full power’ wouldn’t be the best as it would still signify a limit, like if it can be full then it has a max capacity or limit y’know? I could deal with Limit Breaker Blue. I think Limit Breaker/Break would be the best if only because they keep referring to it as ‘their limit breaking power’.

Honestly I think they’ll just keep calling it their limit breaking power if anything. And exactly, too many people are being confused by Goku’s new form and thinking UI is a form. Like you said Whis took no such form and it’s a technique, it’d cause no change.

Honestly it would be the same either way. He unlocks it while in Blue vs Limit Breaker with SSJB that’s pretty much the same thing, it’s still essentially 50x (with God Ki bonuses added) Limit Breaker power.

  • picmanreborn

Same. I played since early release for a total around 10 hours and only got like 22 matches

  • Rafty

ehhh vegeta has the UI eyes and slight aura but it isn’t UI?

that’s quite a bummer it was kinda cool all but i was hoping something cooler to happen (eg getting the tar beat out of him like goku… lol) but i guess it’s classic vegeta tho so that’s fine, seems their adding bits and pieces of the Manga in which is real nice :).

but for the moment i don’t care about our heroes just want to what god ki toppo can do XD.
(I’m more hyped about that than “omen” tbh)

  • Rafty

i was kinda hoping it would appear as the “true” god form of the race because how it was displayed as the highest form a saiyan can reach.. but like you said people have found out that the creator of ssj4 isn’t by the creator of dbz there by the form is considered canon 🙁

  • Goku Black

You know…they could’ve just made Gogeta canon and just turn into Gogeta Blue. – n –

  • SM

So FighterZ is not going to be dubbed is it

  • Koibito888

    As if they still couldn’t?

  • Koibito888

Because it’s not UI eyes. It’s ‘broken shell eyes’. Goku had two powers going. UI is only a technique to move fast, the power boost was explained to be Goku ‘breaking his shell’ because of the Spirit Bomb thing – fighting unconsciously just so happened to allow him to use UI since that’s what the technique is. The power boost was a separate thing on it’s own and was never part of UI.

I mean when Whis was demonstrating UI nothing changed from him (he definitely like reached out to grab a bee super fast and was questioned when he stepped in poop showing both he was demonstrating it to them and was expected to be using it when he stepped in crap). When Goku activated UI against Kale he dodged a whole couple barrages before powering up and THEN the aura and eyes appeared.

Vegeta forcefully broke his limits and so he didn’t enter any circumstance where it’s body was fighting on it’s own to cheat his way into UI, only getting the power boost – just unlike Goku he can stack Blue on top of it/do it in Blue. Hence the eyes that have nothing to do with UI.

  • KDG

That would require Vegeta to actually know how to perform the Fusion Dance. It would also require him to perform it flawlessly, which probably wouldn’t happen considering he has never performed the Fusion Dance before. Personally, I don’t get why so many people want Gogeta to be canon so badly.
